That sucks for the students who really don't have a lot of money to spend, but still buy apple products for whatever reason (I know a few of these, I may never understand their logic).

You're assuming there IS logic. Clearly there is something here to do with 'disposable income'. Don't get me wrong, I'm not full of blind Apple hate, but the typical Apple user seems to me to be not particularly worried about how they are going to make their next mortgage payment. I assume that's what Orbitz is assuming as well.

I dont understand these "well they spend so much on their Mac's they must be able to afford a pricey hotel" statements...

Many broke people but Macs because they dont know what theyre doing. Many people buy a Windows PC and spend a lot. Maybe this analysis proves that PC users are generally not bought into marketing so easily. I can confidently say that there are more wealthier Windows/Linux users than Mac users.

What most people in this thread aren't realizing is, and it's stated directly in the OP's post:

Orbitz's data accumulated over the years have statistically shown that users who are using Macs typically spend more on the same destinations than users using Windows. It is only logical for them to implement a system that shows results that are more likely to be relevant to the Mac user's interests first (more expensive rooms). A Windows user would receive cheaper options first. The same options are still available to both, just presented in a different order.

There is no conspiracy or anything here. Just facts with hard data to back it up.
