question about transporting a watercooled system

Hello OCN!

I'm new to water cooling!

I'm going to a lot of LAN party's these days and I was wondering if I'd have to change water coolant when ever I wanted to transport my pc?

Money is not the problem I just want to know if it would be necessary to change it "every time" smile.gif

There isnt a need to change your water. You can keep your system standing up in the backseat of your car and have it slightly leaning against the back of the seat.. You can put a seat belt around it so it wont tilt forward and hit the front seats.

I've moved 4 times with my system without any problems.

good to know this, I am not really planning on too many lans but a good friend of mine use to play a ton of diablo back in the day with me and when I get my new system up and running I was worried about being able to port it over to his place every once in a while. Any suggestions about transit other then a seatbelt?

It's actually a little safer to transport a WC computer rather than air cooled because you don't have a Kg of copper hanging off your motherboard. That said, it could be a little more annoying due to the extra weight of having a bunch of water. As with anything you transport, just find a decent way of preventing it from bouncing or flopping around and be sure to check screws and connections after you arrive to make sure nothing wiggled loose.

I'll add a quick note in case someone reads this for distant transport.

If you travel to somewhere with a significantly higher elevation and have a decent bit of air in your reservoir (and a decent sized reservoir), be sure to equalize it a few times during the journey or the extra air pressure could pop tubes off.

Is it a sealed system Like H50 - 70 - 100 all in one kit. Or does it have a res?

If it has a res, detach the in and out tubes to the res and use a hose barb to link them so its completely sealed.
Then you can lay it flat on the seat or in the trunk, at least you won't have to worry about spillage.

Your spinning hard drives are the biggest concern but they seem to be quite resilient as far as I've seen. If concerned slide them out and carry them seperate.
