Need help keeping Phenom II 955BE Under TJ Max (60C)

I just bought a Noctua NH-D14, install went amazingly smooth (they have the best mounting system I have ever seen.... EVER) Anyway, I was having OS issues so I was in BIOS, I have no OC in fact the bios was bone stock. But the idle temp was 44C on my CPU. I didnt get a chance to do any load testing but for stock idle that seems really high.. Only 15C from TJ Max .. Any ideas?

Something is seriously wrong!

Idling CPU wouldn't be that hot with no fans on D14!!

Both fans facing same direction?
Forget to remove plastic from heatsink?
Forgot to put compound on CPU?

If none of the above remove, look at seated compound pattern, clean and reseat making sure it is setting flat and tighten mounts down a turn at a time all the way around until tight.

Report back.

None of the above buddeh, will do as soon as I get home and I will report in.. How efficient is the cooler? I wonder if it could be my ambient temperature... But I will also clean and re-seat

I've the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 and a B55 3600@1.525 vcore and my idle temp is about the same 39°C-44°C. Maximum temperature for this cpu is 72°C and not 59°C. You can use TurionPowerControl to check it.

Problem I see is that im bone stock

no Vcore change to frequency change.. (yet) BTW I thought TJ Max was 60C flat?

Yes, can be. But it's 72°C for this cpu. Check TurionPowerControl. The other thing is did you use Windows Powerprofile? First thing is to use the performance profile and adjust the cpu power performance. What I did is 10% minimum and 100% maximum for the cpu only. Then it uses ondemand cpu power. It will get you better temps and lower bill. You can check the P-states with k10stat or TurionPowerControl.

D14 is one of the best cooling on the market.

Many consider it one of the top 5 coolers:

Alpenfohn K2

There are like 32 coolers all within 3c of each other.
