I tried the bios flash for more voltage and couldn't get much more out of it so meh.

I think I can push the mem clock a lot more but I don't bother anymore.

Noise and temps is more important.

Great thanks! I'm actually getting the same temperatures with a less aggressive fan profile now, its quite quiet with a +50mhz core overclock the max temp is 76c which im happy with @ 70% fan speed

Got a few more mods to do which will add extra cooling anyway so should be even better soon smile.gif

670 FTW sli on water

Idle 22c
Load 36
EVGA, getting 30-40 on idle, and as high as 90+ under load.

The strange part is that it just seems to go higher and higher until I quit, and I don't think it used to be this loud (or hot). Running a custom fan profile does seem to delay the temps a little bit, but it'll usually reach 90+ regardless.

The card is less than four months old, so at this point I'm considering returning it. Because this is not normal, right?
I wouldn't think it would be normal for it to continue to rise, it should stabilize at something around 70-80C if its a reference style cooler.
Can you confirm that the fan is actually picking up speed.

I had a 670 DCUII that the fan wouldn't speed up until the cards usage was > 75%, and as a result, in some less demanding games, it would reach 90C, yet in games that were demanding, would reach only 64C. That was since returned and a new one that works is in its place.

Also what have you got in the way of case cooling?
Theres something very wrong if your getting 90c+! Thats way too high for a single GTX 670.

I have 2 x Asus Direct CU II GTX 670 in SLI and the top card reaches 76c max in benchmarking and bottom card only gets to 60c.

When i was running a single card i used to only get 65c max with a heavy overclock of 1280mhz core.

As the card is so new i would take it back. Even in a really warm case it shouldnt get that hot. If not, you should start by replacing the TIM with MX-4 as it is likely your cooler isnt making a good contact with the die on the chip.

Yeah, the fan is definitively picking up speed as it should, at least according to Afterburner and/or Precision. The other reason I'm pretty sure the fan is working correctly, is obviously the sound - it gets loud as balls.

I've got a Corsair Carbide 500R Midi Tower, which has one large side-fan, and two in the front and one in the back. I don't have any fancy stuff, it's a pretty basic computer (though more than powerful enough for my needs). Here's my general specs, though I'm pretty confident that this is an issue with the 670 itself, all things considered:

Intel® Core i5-3570K Processor
ASUS P8Z77-V, Socket-1155 ATX, Z77, DDR3, 2xG3+1xG2-PCIe-x16,SLI/CFX, VGA, DVI, HDMI, DP, WiFi, DLNA, UEFI
Crucial m4 SSD 2.5" 128GB SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 500MB/175MB/s read/write
Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 1600MHz 8GB 8GB kit(4GBx2), CL9, 1.5V, CL9-9-9-24
Seagate Barracuda® 1TB SATA 6Gb/s (SATA 3.0), 64MB Cache, 7200RPM, 3.5"
EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB PhysX CUDA PCI-Express 3.0, GDDR5, DVI-D+DVI-I, native-HDMI, DisplayPort
Samsung DVD±RW Writer, SH-222BB SATA, DVD±R: 22x DVD+RW: 8x, DVD-RW: 6x, DVD-RAM: 12x, Bulk, BLACK
Cooler Master GX 750W PSU ATX 12V V2.31, 80 Plus, Standard, 4x 6+2pin PCIe, 9x SATA, 120mm Vifte

Sorry if this includes information you don't really need - I wouldn't know, I just copied the order back from when I bought it.

The fan will pick up speed because its connected to the graphics card...it doesnt mean the cooler is working as it should though mate. it just means the fan is connected properly to the graphics card. For example if you plug in a case fan outside the case, it will work but it wont be cooling what it is supposed to be cooling. Its probably a bad contact between the chip and heatsink

That case is fine, definatly send it back if you can!
