The amount of people defending this game and saying it's fun is really scary..

If you don't realize how bad this game is we have a big problem.

"near unplayable on inferno"

that statement alone turns me off from reading the rest tho i did read. inferno was hard for bad players and so im sure this article hits home for most ppl. my 3 friends and i beat inferno within the first 2 weeks or something around that time. was a joke like all games today

other then that the entire thing was right. bliz made the game a joke, it is a joke and will continue to be a joke. furthermore there is no way to stop "deflation" because if bliz sets the price at 2.50, gold sellers will sell for 2. this is after we consider bliz is gonna take 15 percent cut of everything + income tax.

my only regret with diablo 3 aside from buying it with hopes inferno was hard was not selling my gold till it was 3/m on playerauctions.

edit- and yeh the people who think this game is fun are just people who lack vision. lets be honest, if this game is your idea of fun, you need to be shown fun and i feel very sorry for you

You stop inflation by fixing gold exploits. Or raising prices of repair as they've done. Poorly done, but nevertheless keeping with inflation.

Agreed 100%.

I went searching about a week or two ago for an item in the RMAH and found a really nice item, was to be a weapon for my lvl 60 barbarian, going for around $4.50. I figured that it wouldn't be a problem to spend a little money on a good weapon just once, since the stats were incredible for the price listed. Mind you all this was a rare weapon that was a 1100 DPS 1h Sword with like...seven enchantment lines AND was socketted. Well, I opted out of it since the game requires an Authenticator to proceed with any real currency purchases, however I'm not complaining about that as it should require one.

Yet I go back today and I just look at what the game item prices are, expecting to see tons of $2-$5 items. NOPE. I saw items that were up for $250. mad.gifWHY WOULDYOU EVEN ATTEMPT TO PUT AN ITEM UP FOR ANY AMOUNT ABOVE $5!? Most of these items were going for MORE THAN THEY PAID FOR THE GAME! The lowest item I saw in the "recommended items list" was going for around $25. I mean...it'd be more feasible to just buy gold from some of these store farmers and go about that than pay for an item that will run you the price of another copy of Diablo 3.

That's the pinnacle of GREED right there, which is ironic in itself. tongue.gif Because you never fought against the Lord of Greed did you? Azmodan is the Lord of Sin... he has his sin lieutenants in Act 3... where's the Lord of Greed? Oh I know.... he's in the RMAH.... >.>

You have any idea how many people are struggling as is? Without these updates? Most of the kids who play Diablo 3 aren't able to buy the game without their parents being there. Seriously enough, increasing the repair prices is NOT fair to someone like ME who plays the game the hard way. I do it like thus because it's more fun and the "showing off" I can do to people in Hell difficulty is always satisfying. biggrin.gif 1150 life per second anyone? biggrin.gif

Even if the RMAH went away right now, the game would still be mediocre at best because of the decisions that the RMAH has forced the game designers to make. Every decision that was made over the course of this games design had to be examined under the premise that the game is online 24/7 and items can be bought/sold for real money in the auction house. Crafting, character design, skills, itemization, drop rates, merchant prices, item quality, level cap, gear progression, all of it has to be compatible with the RMAH.
Something could be incredibly fun and well designed for the game otherwise, but if it significantly reduced the chance for people to use the auction house, why would Blizzard include it? It would cost them lots of potential profit. What if the only drawback to an amazing idea was not making money? Could they really talk their boss into costing them money for "fun?" I guarantee that this game would have turned out very differently if the RMAH had not been an initial design parameter, and probably for the better.
It's not about jealousy or have/havenots, because people bought stuff/sold stuff for real money in D2 as well, and any game with items. At least they had to take a personal risk to do it and their decisions didn't effect the actual game. I could still have fun offline in a LAN with my friends, trying to get through hell using only melee sorcs with ridiculous builds just for fun. D2 was a game so fun that a blackmarket sprung up around it, D3 is a blackmarket you pay $60 for with a game tacked on it make people use it and get taxed. You can't just ignore the RMAH, because sadly the RMAH is the game.

You have a point but I don't think your entirely correct. Blizzard was already pulling away from LAN even without RMAH, see sc2. They were also already testing always online with sc 2 but didn't pull the trigger completely and offered an offline mode after you connected to the internet first. How you do k now the RMAH was an origional design perameter? In fact I wouldn' t be surprised if this isn't something that was brought up in the last yearish of development and part of the games delays. So its very possible the game wouldn't be that different then it is today.

PS melee/tank range wizards are viable =D

In my limited experience, something like RMAH would take a longer than a year to design and implement. I would assume it took about a year just to test and make sure it operates correctly every time.

Why is this such a freaking big issue to everyone? I think this is a great idea for everyone.
It's great for people who dont mind spending the money.
It's great for people who want to make some money
It's great for the company since it allows them to generate revenue and stay in business.

Quit whining.

well ill start by saying that just because selected few don't use it doesn't mean that the majority will, real money should never effect anyone in any virtual game ever, real money should never be a part of video games ever. People say that before in d2 people would buy items, i never did but it didn't influence people into getting it since it was frown upon by players and ban of account on top of that so it was a huge risk from the player. Now it is open an sanctioned for anyone to use.....as long as blizzard gets their cut.

this RMAH was not implemented for helping players, but only for blizzard to make more money from them, you are making money in d3 cool story bro now how much money is blizzard generating from this overall?

I am glad and agree 100% with what the OP said and posted thank god someone had intelligence to point it out of those in denial.

utilizing RMAH its like 2 kids building a baseball team with friends where one rich kid would hire professional baseball team while normal kid would be stuck with his friends remember the simpsons episode:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-PgpbcLsiU&feature=related

lol

P.S- the RMAH ruins the game like many have said its the number one reason i didn't buy D3 and never will, i don't even mind the rest of complains as much but this takes the cake.
