Something could be incredibly fun and well designed for the game otherwise, but if it significantly reduced the chance for people to use the auction house, why would Blizzard include it? It would cost them lots of potential profit. What if the only drawback to an amazing idea was not making money? Could they really talk their boss into costing them money for "fun?" I guarantee that this game would have turned out very differently if the RMAH had not been an initial design parameter, and probably for the better.
It's not about jealousy or have/havenots, because people bought stuff/sold stuff for real money in D2 as well, and any game with items. At least they had to take a personal risk to do it and their decisions didn't effect the actual game. I could still have fun offline in a LAN with my friends, trying to get through hell using only melee sorcs with ridiculous builds just for fun. D2 was a game so fun that a blackmarket sprung up around it, D3 is a blackmarket you pay $60 for with a game tacked on it make people use it and get taxed. You can't just ignore the RMAH, because sadly the RMAH is the game.

They were also already testing always online with sc 2 but didn't pull the trigger completely and offered an offline mode after you connected to the internet first. How you do k now the RMAH was an origional design perameter? In fact I wouldn' t be surprised if this isn't something that was brought up in the last yearish of development and part of the games delays. So its very possible the game wouldn't be that different then it is today.

We get it, you think the game is god aweful. That's fine but stop thinking everyone shares or should share your opinion.

Why is this such a freaking big issue to everyone? I think this is a great idea for everyone.
It's great for people who dont mind spending the money.
It's great for people who want to make some money
It's great for the company since it allows them to generate revenue and stay in business.

Quit whining.
