do Power supply covers overheat the psu

Thread Starter
i wanted to start modding my cooler master storm trooper / Window. and decided to cover my psu and wires with a piece of steel that is wrapped in carbon vinyl. the psu has 1.50inch clearance for air and the air comes from the section with wires
should i cut some ventilation to the cover or i wont have any problem

If your psu is not bottom mount and does not pull air from under your case and exhaust it out of the case any type of psu cover will restrict airflow. It is best to let it vent as much as possible. They will over heat. No doubt, but which is yours? Upper mount or lower mount?

Being a HAF X and without looking it up i would assume its a bottom mount.

As long as you dont block the inlet under the case where the psu fan should be, and the exhaust at the rear you can do as you like.

If you are only running a single GTX 560 on a 850 watt PSU then you are fine. I don't see there being any temperature problems for your PSU unless you have a seriously hot environment the computer is sitting in.

If the PSU is breathing from the bottom and exhausting out the back then the a cover like the one you linked should have no effect on temperatures.
