Simple poll, was just curious what DE/WM(s) everyone was using in there current setup.
Been playing with a few again recently and just wanted to see what you guys were using. smile.gif
Pick more then one, if you use it on a regular basis I suppose.
I tried to remember as many as I could, if you use something else just pick other and post what it is tongue.gif

Edit: I forgot Unity, but how is that a bad thing? biggrin.gif

Just wanted to say that for me it is not at all simple. On one hand the most indispensable to me is KDE but there are apps and libraries that force me to install Gnome as well even though I never use it as a DE. Additionally, right now I'm gaming a lot and considerable of it is in Wine, so I utilize Xfce for the smaller footprint. However if it didn't have considerable Gnome and especially KDE support it wouldn't even be installed. So if I had to have just one, no doubt it would be KDE, but I hope that never happens.

I'm always changing, but lately it's been XFCE, LXDE, Gnome 2, and whatever Crunchbang uses for the lulz occasionally.

Leaving out Unity is kind of a bad thing. Linux is all about freedom of choice even if it is (supposedly) "bad". I may dislike(a lot) Gnome but I wouldn't leave it out or encourage people not to use it.

I'm amazed to see XFCE winning after about 20 votes. My personal preferences are in order KDE, E17(Enlightenment), and LXDE followed by XFCE and Openbox when worse comes to worse. Honestly, I'm torn on E17 becoming less "beta" because it really competes with KDE for me on being useful and attractive while using so little resources.

I can attempt to edit the poll if NYXCharon so chooses. It may require removing and rebuilding, but I don't mind. Or it may require a new thread. I know that polls aren't an exact science yet (they weren't on Vbulletin either)

In order of preference: KDE4 -> Awesome -> headless console

I liked Xfce a lot on my netbook before my Arch install died, then I enjoyed Unity apart from the sluggishness (I liked the UI, the Dash is really intuitive), until my netbook died.

I still haven't decided between Mate & Cinnamon for my new laptop install - I like Mate, but worry about how long it'll be around, and whether it'll get "significant" development over the years.

I still use Openbox but I did recently use Xmonad for my laptop but due to its instability and partially due to my laziness I ended up going back to my Openbox setup that was fully configured.

Hey, is HUD up and running in Unity? It seemed like it was going to be a cool idea where you could search open program's controls from the run interface, thus no longer need to worry about moving a mouse around or searching through program panels.
