Building a new PC, first timer

Thread Starter
Hello everybody,

I just recently joined and I was hoping I could get some input. My other computer just recently died (sad news frown.gif) so I am in the market for a new one, I plan to use it for gaming. I decided this time I was going to try and build mine. Here is a list of what I thought I would like, so I was just curious to know if these will all work together or if you guys might have recommendations with what I should change out.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=70541)

Motherboard: ASRock Z77 EXTREME4 (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=70902)

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti Fermi (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=61889&promoid=1067)

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8 GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DD3 1600 (PC3 12800) (http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=15380BD8579)

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 16MB Cache 7200 RPM (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58402)

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST 24X SATA DVD Writer OEM Black (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=49597)

Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Direct Touch 4 Heatpipe Heatsink (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=41337)

Monitor: ASUS VW193TR 19IN Widescreen LCD Monitor (http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=10530MN9672)

Power: Seasonic M12II 620W EPS12V 20/ 24PIN ATX PFC 80+ Bronze Modular 6PIN PCI-E 120MM Fan (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=52176)

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced (http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11130AC0874)

Welcome to OCN! Sorry to hear about your other machine, I think we've all had one eventually give out. Your build looks pretty solid at the moment but give us a budget and preferred stores and we may be able to do a little better.

The only suggestion I have at the moment is for a different monitor. No need for speakers in it and 1440 x 900 isn't as nice as 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200 in my opinion.

Thank you for the welcome. The reason why I chose a 1440x900 was because I wasn't really a fan of 1920x1200, it was too small for my liking. But that was on my laptop which was a 17", so that could have been why. I was planning to have my budget around $1,150-1,250. Just something to hold me over for the time being. I chose NCIX and Direct Canada is because they're in the same area as I am. Newegg's shipping fees were crazy for me.

I just plan to play games like Battlefield 3, Blade and Soul. I don't really care too much about having the most ultra of the ultra settings though.

Do you need a Windows 7 license included in your budget?

Thank you very much smile.gif! Though I might look into getting another monitor, my friend also suggested I look into another. Since 1440x900 is "old".
