New build on ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Gen3 shuts down immediately after power on; cycles

Thread Starter 
Just threw the new mobo (ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Gen3) and CPU (3570K) into my computer and it won't boot up. Power it on, starts up for about a second then shuts off. If I leave it, it tries to turn itself on in a couple seconds and the cycle just repeats.

Any ideas?

The only thing that I can think of is that its stock BIOS may not be compatible with the 3570K.

It's not. I need to flash it to get it to work with Ivy Bridge. But, if I cannot boot it up...

Yeah, unfortunately if this is the case, then the only solution would be to temporarily put a Sandy Bridge CPU in there. This would allow you to boot up, flash to the latest BIOS, and then put the 3570K in. Again, only if this is the culprit.

umm...you're gonna have to flash the bios..only thing I can think of is to get a celeron g440 and flash bios..or return board and get z77 board (if it's new)

Problem solved(ish): read in another forum that I need a new BIOS chip and ASRock would obliged.

So, sent a support request via email. Realizing that would take a long time, I found a phone number and called them. Rang twice, maybe, immediate answer talking to a real person. Told her the problem, she said "send me a copy of the invoice and your shipping info and we'll send you a new BIOS chip". Gotta say, liking this company already!

Asrock is amazing....... if they take too long... ebay has a wide range of Asrock bios chips from fast shippers.
Your going to love this board... I will stick to ASRock now as long as they bring out boards. Great company and service is next to flawless.
