Weird question to all P8Z77-V owners

Thread Starter
Hello,

First of all I would like to say that i'm new on this forum. English is not my native language so please forgive mistakes.

I am planning to build a new rig and this is what I am considering :

Intel Core i5-3570K (3.4 GHz)
Asus P8Z77-V
DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Low Profile, 2 x 4 Go, PC3-12800, CAS 9
SSD Samsung 830, 128 Go, SATA III
Seagate Barracuda, 1 To
Asus GeForce GTX 670 Direct CU II, 2 Go
Corsair HX650, 650 W
CORSAIR Vengeance Series C70 Gunmetal Black
DVD Sony AD-7280S-0B, Bulk
Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO
Vengeance M60 Performance, Corsair

First of all it is important to mention that that rig is going to be moved a lot. I would like to get the P8Z77-V as motherboard. Wifi go is a usefull feauture to me.
When I look at pictures of the motherboard, there is a black plastic piece that sticks out of the wifi module. That's where the wifi antenna needs to be plugged in.

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=asus+wifi+go+module&um=1&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1280&bih=602&tbm=isch&tbnid=Do2OPUF38D4w-M:&imgrefurl=http://techreport.com/articles.x/22755/2&docid=lSv5W2NV3RXTMM&imgurl=http://techreport.com/r.x/z77-mobos-sandy/asus-ports.jpg&w=620&h=390&ei=K3PqT9uLGYmr-gbG3ri5BQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=112&vpy=12&dur=232&hovh=172&hovw=273&tx=121&ty=79&sig=115296158292424805502&page=2&tbnh=107&tbnw=170&start=18&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:18,s:18,i:188

So my question is, can that black plastic piece also be disconnected from the WIFI module? Because it seems to stick out a lot behind the back of the motherboard and if it can't be disconnected it is going to break off in no time during transport.

I realy hope you will understand what I am trying to explain here and that someone has an answer .

Thanks everyone

The piece shouldn't stick out too much when it's in your case. It doesn't in mine, and I own the p8z77-v Deluxe.

Thanks for your reply.

Can the black plastic piece be diconnected of the module on your board or is it a one piece?

All the images I look at say it does not come off, in fact, thats where the external antenna can connect, making that whole piece removable would be pretty wobbly. You can see the circuit board extend into the plastic piece.

I have the same board. The PCB of the Wifi module extends underneath that black plastic shell and it is most definitely not removable.

The black plastic shell is not removable, but the card itself is. If you are about to go somewhere, just quickly unplug the card. It shouldn't take to long to take it out and put it back in.

Edit: I forgot to mention, that it does need to be screwed to the board, not sure if the top or bottom of the board, but I can vouch for the black shell, it doesn't stick out too far.

^Yep, I just went and checked, it sticks out only about 1.4cm, measuring from the I/O shield.

Depending on your case, this could be a non-issue. I have this board and my i/o is recessed to where this black part does not stick out beyond the case. From looking at an backside image of your case, you will not have any issues while in transport
