Because ypu have an 8 core. I found that some thuban hex cores run @7.6- 7.7 on a 890fx or 990fx board

If your still wondering about this computer/processor setup I can in detail tell you I can actually play CS:S on it with little to no major issues. I lowered graphics settings, upped the ram to 4gb from the EGG and lowered the look of Win7 to look like Win xp in the performance settings of your system settings. Now I watch moves and play java based games pretty well. My friend is currently playing Runescape on it while attached to TV listening to Dubstep and surfing sites. Just need to work with it a bit. The ram upgrade was best for it too. I also Play Eve Online with it pretty amazingly well for it lmao.

I own a first generation netbook with a single core Intel Atom N270 which should be without a doubt slower than your C-50. Not only that, but for almost 5 years I personally used a Athlon XP 2100+ @ 1.9GHz as my main PC up until early 2011, so I have much experience with modern workloads on low-performance CPUs


1. Single-core CPU Performance is around Pentium 4 / Athlon XP levels, so don't have high expectations. For a more modern comparison, I've found a 1.6GHz E-350 to be equal to a 1.2GHz Athlon 64 x2.

2. Back in the day, flash animations were quite the CPU hog. It may be wise to use a script from http://userscripts.org to force flash quality to "Low", I personally use this script "Low Flash Quality" on my netbook.

3. At the very LEAST you should be able to run YouTube's flash video in fullscreen at 480p without hardware acceleration, because even my netbook can do that (720p is too much). A similar thing is that you should be able to play YouTube's 720p WebM encodes in an external player like VLC (WebM is not hardware accelerated on Windows); the thing is WebM/VP8 is less CPU-intensive than h.264 in pure software, and my netbook lacks h.264 acceleration.

4. An SSD makes way more of a difference in overall "snappiness" than you'd believe. Even if the CPU bottlenecks the SSD it'll still be much more responsive than the small and slow HDDs that netbooks come with.

5. A slimmed-down OS configuration can really cut-down the CPU load, it can literally be the difference between having stuttering in Doom 1 (GLBoom) to being able to smoothly play Quake II online (R1GL). However you'll have to turn to the "dark side" of the Internets if you don't want to configure your OS manually. (here's two hints if you do go searching; for XP: tj007s13 for Win7: nileshtambe ) Also beware of two things: 1. XP lacks support for h.264 hardware acceleration on Radeon GPUs (no idea about Nvidia & Intel) 2. Sometimes removing and/or disabling some OS background services can prevent a few rare programs from installing, such as Chrome due to it's auto-update OS service.

6. If you're feeling really OCD and have enough RAM, you may even want to consider disabling the page file so as to prevent background CPU cycles from being eaten up, especially if you're using an SSD which, due to their speed, will likely fully peg a core on a C-50 during file reading & writing.
