Dark Messiah ... LAG [Plz Help]

ok so me and my brother got dark messiah
we both have the same rig the only diff. is his video card is a 7600 GT, mine is a 7900 GT but his CPU is a A64 3700+ and mine is a A64 3000+. I ran the demo perfect back in the day and now i beleive my hard drive has gotta be either failing cuz its too full of BS, spyware, or is just plain old. It has like 2mb of cache (so does his) as these came with our gateway PC's.... Dark messiah LAGS on my computer and runs super smooth then chops up every few seconds, like when an enemy goes to strike. On his PC it runs ALOT better and barely ever stutters.. Im stuck in a hole and cant play the game due to the horrible lag... please help.

I also wanna mention that i just beat F.E.A.R Extraction Point with NO lag at all.. and that the multiplayer for dark messiah freezes and hangs at like 70% loading....

You should probably clean up the drive some, make sure you have a some free space, its not fragmented etc.

Download ad-aware and avast personal ~both free.

www.avast.com
www.lavasoft.com

Do a full system scan w/ad-aware including compressed files. Then schedule a system boot scan with avast. This should clean most of your spyware issues, if not then post a screen of your processes and google/download "hijackthis.exe" and somebody on here can guide you through what you want to disable from starting when the computer starts.

Clean up the prefetch folder in the windows system file, delete things you don't need, defragment, run an antivirus, and if all of that doen't work, overclock your processor up to your brother's CPU clock !
EDIT:Also stop unnecessary processes (in windows task manager) and stop all of the services that you don't need ( by typing services.msc in run )

Don't worry. It's the game. It's buggier than crap. Go to http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums...02&f=808101043 and you'll read all about the bugs and that's the first place that will post patches. Your computer is fine.

It uses the HL 2 engine and its a known problem, FEAR also lags with sound, door opening, etc on some rigs... its pretty rig dependant.
I could run DMoMM with no lag (before my new sound card made it crash non stop) but the new FEAR demo made it stutter badly... others have it vice versa.

I cured it in the new FEAR demo by cranking up my CPU by 300MHZ and that gave it enough power to stumble over the door-opening-stutter with little or no noticable lag... it didn't stop the bug just made it un noticable.

So i would say the Mhz difference in your and your bro's PC makes his soak up more of the blows from bugs/poor coding than yours.

There are no end of problems with DMoMM my friend cant play ingame video's, gets stutter, etc... i ran it fine... installed a new sound blaster card.. and it crashes in 30 seconds flat with constantly looping sound.

It's the game not your PC.

Thanks alot guys.
I'l be getting a new hard drive with 16mb of cache and hopefully it atleast helps with the load times (which are longer than F.E.A.R's CoHs COD2's or any game ive played for that matter!). For now i just cleaned up my start up and washed up the spyware and it runs alot better, multiplayer still wont work but i guess i'l have to wait on an update patch, REP+ to all of you
