H61 motherboard with working PCIE 3.0

Thread Starter
I want to Intel Core i5 3550 with a cheap H61 motherboard from

ASUS
MSI
GIGABYTE

The mobo must support working PCIE 3.0

If someone can show me a GPU-Z screenshot of an AMD HD 7xxx or Nvidia 6xx card performing in the same motherboard with third generation i5/i7 I will happily buy that board.

Current GPUs won't utilize PCIe 3.0 speeds, right now it is not needed. If you are wanting to overclock you should be looking at an AMD setup and a 990fx board. When overclocked it will perform better than the 3550.

If you still want to stay intel, look at a 3750k and a Z77 board. If you need cheaper, go i3-2100 and a cheap H61 board. Grabbing a locked i5 is a bad idea.

Also, I am pretty sure the H61 chipset does not support PCIe 3.0. You will need H77, Z77 or Z68 Gen 3

I agree with not going with a locked CPU you will not be able to OC it.

No I dont overclock CPUS / GPUs so P67 Z68 Z77 Z75 are out.

Then I dont want to take the H77 / H67 route since they are costly. Also, i dont have a lot of peripherals (2HDD and a 1GB Pen Drive) . So H61 is enough for me.

Also, all of these manufacturers (ASUS,MSI,GIGABYTE) are making bold claims about GEN3 Support.

So, if someone has any idea / experience please share it with me since I am planning to add a GTX 670 and I want it to run at PCIE 3.0 from Day 1.

A GTX 670 will run fine on PCIe 2.0. You will get zero benefit from PCIe 3.0. What is your overall budget?

guys you are not understanding my point.

I dont want to change the proccy and the mobo (till they die).

So even if I change GTX 670 to another card that may want PCIE 3.0 x16 (speeds) at that point of time .

Moreover, ASUS MSI GIGABYTE CLAIM they have the capability in their boards .

Can Anyone just test it.

Have you looked at the ASRock Motherboards? They support Gen 3.0.

My budget is $800
I need to buy CPU RAM MOBO PSU GTX 670
$800 simulation build (Click to show)
PCPartPicker part list

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Biostar TZ77B ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($97.55 @ Newegg)
Memory: PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($42.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card ($379.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Rosewill 530W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($46.75 @ Newegg)
Total: $787.27
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

Here, this will be a very good buy, decent entry level board if you ever decide to overclock. The 3570K chip will hold it's value better than the locked i5, and if it starts to become obsolete, you can overclock it to get another year or two out of it.

One more I am from India
So NCIX ,Newegg is not available here.

Also, here in India H77=Z77=Z68=P67 in prices. they are all same (from low end to high end).

Also, Biostar has terrible RMA support in iNdia and their board costs around $200 in India.

And I5 3570k cost $300 here.

So, the only option left with my strict budget are i5 3470/3550 and H61(GEN 3 capable if available) .

I am leaning towards corsair GS600 costs $80 in INDIA and their RMA is really the best.

Only The price of RAM is same here.
