You should decide on the switches first, then the keyboard.
youv got one of the best shops in the uk: http://www.keyboardco.com/

cm storm quickfire is better quality then the trigger, mk-85 is alright i guess theres some good reviews but i cannot be sure since i didnt try it myself yet.

Qpad Mk-85 is pretty same like Xarmor, with different keycaps.
As far as I know, the quality of Xarmor wasn't so good, there were some issues, with uneven LED for example. Qpad had pretty same problems.
Much better keyboards built on same base are maxkeyboard, which have quality made LED, better keycaps, and onboard memory, also better cable. And you can customize it.
Ducky Shine should have even a little more quality. Right now, I am considering between Ducky and Nighthawk.

If you can wait, next step would be Rosewill 9100, which is planned on the august, but it think only blue LED. They said, they will make white/red/green LED later (just google for it). Rosewill build contruction should be even a little bit better than Ducky.

And.. if you like really long wait, WASD keyboard is planning backlit version of keyboard next year. :-) These should be superior to all previous mentioned, I would say, it would be pretty best made backlit version of mechanical keyboard, easily compared with Filcos.

I would recommend you eighter Maxkeyboard Nighthawk/Durandal or Ducky Shine, so pretty same deciding as I am doing right now. Or wait a 2 months for Rosewill, if you like blue LED.
Well maybe check also Race keyboard, but those are not full-sized.

There can be also group buy for maxkeyboard, if we find 10 people, with 20% off. Which is pretty nice price, so you'll get better quality keyboard for less price, than Qpad mk-85.

Ok, seems Xarmor is worse than Monoprice, so there's a change, QPad = Monoprice.

In the last week a few newly registered users have been making authoritative claims about the big differences between these seemingly identical keyboards, which are all being produced by iOne. In particular, I keep seeing the Max Nighthawk called much better than Xarmor/Qpad/Monoprice. I am very curious what these claims are being based on.

Ask Max support, they'll reply in a matter of minutes.

For one, Max Keyboards use gold-plated connections while XArmor/iOne/Qpad and the like do not.
It has onboard memory, higher quality keycaps, and more evenly distributed backlighting. At least that's what I've read about, not 100% sure if all that is true.
It also has a braided cable, while the others do not.

In terms of actual construction and soldering I am not sure what the differences are, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But everything I've heard is that out of those Max Keyboard is the highest quality construction.

The Qpad are exactly the same as the Max, the only difference is the Q and Space bar have the Q Logo. I know this for a fact as I had both alongside and used both for a day each. The feat are much stronger than the Ducky. One thing to note is that if you order on line and get sent directly from the manufacturer for the Qpad and the Max they come from the same place, so it seems all they do is change acouple of the keycaps and it is rebranded from China.

One thing that is disappointing with the Qpad / Max is that the replacement WASD Red keys do not have the Letters indicated on them, they are just blank Red/Orange keys, not like the Ducky which are Red with the individual W,A,S & D keys. This just makes the Qpad look a bit cheaper, but you can just buy replacement Cherry MX keys.

The only advantage that you have buying a Qpad over the other brands is that Qpad gives you the option of choosing your key layout and the switch type and none of the other brands (of this keyboard copy) give you this option, so I would think Qpad are the original manufactures and the Max / XArmor and iOne are just re-branded.

The Ducky RED WASD keys are exactly the same as the Qpad ones, as I pulled them off a mates keyboard and tested, I would have went Ducky if it was not for the bad reports of the feat support and having to use the dip switches underneath the keyboard (old school).

Anyway, after 3 weeks of waiting.. my keyboard is hear and I love it.. MK-85 with MX Browns. thumb.gif

So as per you the Nighthawk X8 is also a good buy since they are basically the same keyboards? I have also ordered the Nighthawk X8 which comes with Cherry Brown.

How is the build quality of the board?

Thanks!

The build quality is rock solid.. well worth the wait and every cent spent on it, its so good I have purchased another to use at work as that is where I have been using my keyboard for the past week.

I love the Qpad MK-85, its just a shame the WASD key replacements are cheap.

Get Qpad over Trigger, definitely. You can also wait for Ducky Shine 2 if you really don't like either.
