About to buy BenQ 2420T. Thoughts?

Hey guys, I'm currently using a 32in 1080p TV and two 19in monitors in portrait. I want to get rid my TV and get a 120hz monitor.

BenQ 2420T: http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2420T-Professional-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B006HIKIG0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340827033&sr=8-1&keywords=2420t

I currently have a gtx 580 1.5gb and i'm planning to get the gtx 780 when it comes out and run surround with three of these monitors.

You will notice a difference most likely over a 32" LCD TV. TV's are not good for gaming in a FPS if that is what you are doing. COlors are not awesome in any of the presets. You could get them better with a Spyder 3 Pro calibration device if you wanted to go that far. I had the monitor and got rid of it even though it is well built and 120hz. I went with a Samsun 23" Glossy screen 120hz monitor instead since the picture looks much better to me and the performance seems great. I wont be able to tell the difference between ~9ms or ~15ms of input lag. SInce I got this monitor I have been banned from several BF3 servers for " Suspicious Play"lol I guess the 120hz is making a difference along with the reduced input lag over my previous monitors.

I play a lot of bf3 and I would like it to look good and still be 120hz.

I had the X2410T back in December 2011 and it was the WORST monitor I've ever bought.

I returned it and got a Samsung S23A950 and it is 100X better than the X2410T. I heard the X2420T is similar to the X2410T but it still suffers from the same QC issues like severe backlight bleeding in some batches, and the responsiveness sucks for a 120Hz monitor.

The only BENQ monitor I had was the X2410T and it had the worst quality control issues I've seen. If you want quality, STAY AWAY from BENQ.

I was looking at the S23A950D and the S23A700D. I like the 700D better because of the stand. I think it would be better for when I wanted to go surround. Surprisingly i've heard there was backlight bleeding on the sammy's but not the benq.

I have the 750D but ya it is really the same monitor.

I kind of have to agree with the above post on the BenQ QC issues. While my monitor worked it did have issues allowing me to adjust the colors in the OSD and even in CCC. I had to fight with it a lot until it would allow anything more than brightness and preset color temp settings. That combined with the colors it gave made me send it back after 2 weeks of use. I just wish I could grab 2 more new Samy 750D's but they do not exist and I have looked. Only refurbs and used ones which are not a good way to go. I guess they are no longer being made. the 950 series are really bad with QC i have read. The stand design causes issues in the lower right corner of the screen and the pixels get all messed up I guess. After time the monitor will sag, plus still no VESA mounts to help avoid that issue. The 750D can be mounted on a VESA stand with some work.

A good rule of thumb is - Never buy anything endorsed or said to be developed by " Pro Gamers". It is marketing crap.

So with the 700D, how bad would it be not having swivel, tilt, and height adjust?

Actually, don't worry about the xl2420t. It's quite a good monitor, and one of the most recommended 120hz monitors. Yes, the 2410 WAS bad. but the 2420 is good. Hence the difference in the price between the two. Also, if you ever use the 3D feature, the xl2420t is compatible with the nvidia-aligned version, whereas the samsung 120hz monitors are compatible with the AMD-aligned version if I recall correctly.

Now personally I'd just get some big fat monitor rather than 120hz. But among those monitors the xl2420t should be pretty good. Just don't accidentally get a 2410.

I personally think 3D is a gimmick so that's why I would be fine with going with the samsung. What does everyone else think, 2420 or 700D?
