Well Auto is only there to get the job done, Not to do the job well.

That is why you always need to manually set it,even when it comes to ram timings and frequencies;)

Under volting could cause damage, if the cpu needs to draw more power, than it'll increase the amperage which can wreak havoc on the transistors on the cpu. For example, 60w / 1.3a = 46.1 amps. 60w / 1.1v= 54.5 amps. Thats a significant amount of current difference.

What? This rig here has been running clocked like so since July 2010.

Undervolting does not do any damage. If anything overvolting causes chip degradation not undervolting. Infact for people running at stock clocks undervolting is recommended.biggrin.gif

I think that would be highly dependent on where you live, in most place in the US power is really cheap.

I think this explains how many people including me managed to get the phenom ii x4 955/965 on 3.8 ghz without any voltage boost (never crashed).

I was amazed to see how low it could go and i thought of sharing it with everybody here. Yeah stability depends on applications, there is no such thing as 100% stable no matter how long you run anything and this i know through experience. Games which take up full 100% usage are actually the best to see how stable your clocks are. Really had a fun time undervolting though and more than pleased with the results.biggrin.gif

Sometimes Stress tests are overrated and if the Cpu isn´t failing in dayuses so you are fine. I think it isn´t to hard to find the min. voltage with stock clock but sometimes its costly to find the right voltages for the P-States like 800 / 1600 / 2200 mhz.

Can you please post your temps with 4 Ghz OC? Stocks temps are really great but they are also great with high Oc?
