Upgrading from AMD64 to Intel Dual Core - Page 2

You're right, you might have problems booting up with the Crucial sticks, they need 2.2v while the DS3 provides only 1.8v when you first boot up.

Maybe you can find a friend with a low end DDR2 stick?

The RAM is compatible, just not out of the box

eVGA 7900GS $186

GIGABYTE 7900GS $190

These are the only alternative unless you want to wait for the x1950pro to restock

Are you sure the crucial ram is compatible?

Whats the best option for an SLI capable motherboard?

I'm really not sure about going with a 7900GS after that X1950PRO was almost at it's pricepoint either. Thats a tough decision. I was ready to bite until the x1950 slipped out of my hands.

You could buy the Evga for now. And use the step up program for the 8800 within 90 days. That is if the price of the G8800 isn't to high...

Nvidia + Intel is a big no-no if you're wanting to OC, try to avoid it at all costs

You COULD run hacked drivers on some of intels chipsets allowing you to use SLI in board that wouldn't originally

The x1900xtx is $300 more than the x1950pro....

Anyway, the x1950pro is back in stock, no need to settle for alternatives
