Proposed HAF 912 Loop - Page 2

Thread Starter
Does my Sig Rig not show up? Those are the parts I'd be putting under water, FX-6100 OC'd and GTX 560ti OC'd but I want to have enough room (rad space) to upgrade gpu(s) if I want. Whether its going to 560ti sli or a stronger single gpu like a 670/7950. With a power supply upgrade in there at some point of course... wink.gif

the forward mounted standard (60mm) radiator is the better choice for CPU/GPU loop.
and now talk of SLI? dude, you'll have to come up with more space or go external with
a 360 x 60mm on the outside. to keep it all internal with this case, you'd be looking at
the 670/680/7950/7970 card. the dual rad is fine for the CPU/GPU combo. start SLI/XFire
youll need more radiator.

even though its been 2 weeks since last post i JUST ran across this thread. I have that case, and i use the 240mm xspc rad. It can not mount internal on the top like that, ive tried, it needs to mount on the top. I also have 2 hd4870x2's and an overclocked phenom x4 970BE (4.0ghz daily) and play games alll the time and see low temps. I will attempt to pull up a picture i have of my set up and use paint to highlight me setup with fans so you have a reference.

Ok so here is my setup. keep in mind that in the picture you don't see my second water block installed, this is an older picture.

So my loop goes Res > Pump > Rad > CPU > GPU1 > GPU2 > Res

My vCore temp is around 40, GPU's (both HD 4870x2's) stay around 35. This is with my CPU being overclocked and fresh at start up. After a couple of hours of gaming I MIGHT see an increase of 5-10 degree on vCore and at most 5 on GPU's. I also have an acrylic box between my rad fans and the rad to increase air flow.

First of all, you don't do INTAKE with top fans. FANS will die super quick, working against their designed dynamics (the center hub pushing down/closing in due to gravity)

Second, when you have a top mounted radiator, it's best to use rear fan as intake to give them fresh air. Supported by a big side fan. (also for vrms, mosfet heatsinks, possibly gfx cards)

Heres a question that I've been trying to answer, Would using 2 120mm fans for my intake in the front bring in more cool air, or would one larger front fan perform better?

In your pic, there's HDD on the bottom so 2 should be better since 1 fan will be obstructed by hdds anyway. So 1 for hdds, 1 for gfx+cpu area. However they are still too far away from cpu+gfx area to be really useful. a big 25cm side fan should have more impact on cpu area(radiator) and motherboard heatsinks.

In my experience Watercooling with the HAF 912,

You'll need a very thin rad to mount internally uptop. Needless to say it may be even harder to put 2 fans on even after you did that.

Another option is a rad box, mounting externally at the rear of the case.

Another option is mounting internally where the HDD cage is.

My RX240 was too thick and tall -- I'd have to mod the case internally a bit just to fit the RX240 where the HDD cage is, in front (internally).

Good luck.

Hmm, mounting the rad externally is not what I want to do. It's Internal or none. If a "real" set-up wont fit, has anyone heard if an H100 will fit up top in the HAF 912? That would be my second route to water-cooling.

See the dilemma, if you want to attach the radiator inside case, you have to remove the exhaust fan. Or use a 92mm fan and somehow attach it there without screws, you usually need exhaust fan as intake to supply air to radiator fans. Haf912 is designed to support radiator from outside which means custom wc kits.
