Your card is to slow for any of these displays to be worth while. Get a 2nd 570 or something better then ask again.

It's too much if you want to play maxed out, if you take away some details, no aa etc probably could get playable fps in games.

You will be constantly compromising and turning settings down to get decent frame rates, especially with newer (and future) games.

A 1440p display is completely out of the question.

Stick with a regular 60hz 1080p display, nothing else will be worth the extra $ unless you upgrade your cards. The Asus VG23AH is a gaming IPS panel (the only IPS panel that does not use a very grainy matte coating) with good colours and responsiveness.

A second 570 and 23a750D will cost around the same price as a 27A950D which you seem to be considering.....

It is definitely not. You don't have to play the newest of games on the highest of graphical settings. You can still enjoy the benefits (games wise as well as outside of games) of a 1440p display without that. Especially when he has a decent GPU like the 570.

Go w/ 1440p! (Higher resolution is always better than higher settings IMO)

I'd rather play 1440p on medium/high, than 1080p on high/highest.

And what are you guys talking about?? He can still run games on high settings. (not everything is turned up... But most of it is)

^ Look at the 2560 x 1600 gpu settings getting an avg framerate of ~43 w/ a 570 gtx.

(Hardware configuration: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570, Intel Core i7 920 (2668Mhz), 2 Gb RAM)

So I should go to 1440p, instead of 120hz or dell IPS?

Short answer = 1440p FTW thumb.gif

Long answer =

I'd much rather game at a higher resolution than 120hz.. I mean... for how intensive games are on ultra settings... I can't even get above 60 fps anyways which makes a 120hz monitor a waste. Plus, some of the Korean monitors have higher sync rates, but it's a crapshoot. Some are 60hz, while others are 120.. and some are in between, lol. Either way... gaming at 1440p is out of this world incredible!
