hello's,
open cpu-z and tell us your real voltage,amd overdrive says 1.325v to everyone,also you cant use under 200 ref clock as it dont like it,its the amd architecture.

Fobba, you need to go into the BIOS (or UEFI) and actually put in the settings I recomended, then boot into windows.

Also, just want to throw it out there that I wasn't really noticing any "symptoms" when I posted this thread. I just by good fortune opened the utility and saw the temps that high. I had never really thought to look because I never had a problem. Ever. In fact today was the first time my computer ever locked up. I don't pretend to know everything about PC's, hence I joined this board for help and advice. I'm a cable tech by trade, and over the years I got left behind with the newer PC technology. So now I'm playing catch up from where I left off 6 years ago.

I wouldn't worry to much more about the temp. Like someone had already said just lower your Vcore and keep around the stock clocks, then order yourself a after market HSF.

I was on the exact same copper stock cooler a few months back. Kept my quad at 57c @ 3.6Ghz. This was using Cooler Master TIM.

OK! Uninstalled MSI ControlCenter. Went to the BIOS, which would not allow me to change some of those values. Apparently when you install MSI CC it activates a feature in the BIOS called OC Genie Lite (there is a module for this in MSI ControlCenter). I noticed the OC Genie was causing it to run constantly at 3.65GHz. I reverted everything to KNOWN SAFE VALUES I think is what it was labeled. Now the CPU clock is variable but the turbo is still somehow engaged even though I disabled it every way I know how. I was under the impression it will only turbo 3 cores at time. Sigh. I'm making progress though. I will reapply a smaller amount of thermal paste tomorrow or just go get a new cooler.
