disabled AMD Cool N Quiet which apparently disables Turbo. And now no turbo. So far. Thanks everyone for the help so far. If I can get 5-10degree drop with a better cooler its worth all of 50 bucks. wish I would have stumbled onto this earlier (Before I bought 2 video cards) You live and you learn though. I've been ordering one part at a time and one day I'll be happy with it.

So far its under load right now and has peaked at 56C its climbing a lot slower now though.

Told ya that stock TIM from AMD is garbage compared to aftermarket. The stock heatsink in itself isn't "bad", its just the TIM that gives really bad results, so don't blame your friend for how much TIM was on that stock heatsink.

And on no I am not blaming my buddy for anything, wanted to be clear on that LOL. He is a good friend and is the one that gave me the HDD and PSU and gave me the hookup on the RAM. I asked him if he thought it was too much and he said no. I still would have put WAY more than what was depicted previously here. In fact talking with him this morning over Facebook he pointed out that he actually said this would probably happen.

If this CPU becomes a problem for CFX setup and stays pegged out I'm just going to scrap the Thuban and move on. We shall see after I get new cooler

sorry to bring bad news,but you cant really get a better chip than that one from amd at the moment.we tested it against mine at 4ghz and mine only beat it in some tests.

if you look at the bottom,the fx did beat it ,but had to be clocked really high and needed watercooling,in this test it was a 360 rad loop.

as for bottlenecking,sounds like rubbish,x-box 360 can run most games.

if you think that a bad comparison,replace x-box with i3.

I think comparing the XBOX 360 version of BF3 to the PC version is like comparing a Bentley to a Cadillac. They both may be nice games, but the XBOX version is going to look nowhere near as nice as the PC version with all the eye candy enabled. Also I think BF3 is one of the most demanding games out there if you want to run it to its full capability.

If you're talking about using an XBOX to play the PC version, I doubt thats going to work well.

We were discussing in another thread how a 7970 only gets a min of 43fps in Ultra. I can show you the benchmarks if you'd like. Right now thats the card the cool kids have. I think that if AMD Phenom II X6's were as good as Core i7 Extremes or what have you, I don't see how Intel would have the market share that it does.

Again, I don't pretend to know everything, especially when it comes to PCs -- I learn something every day, this is just some common sense.

Sure I can play Battlefield 3 on an i3, but I'm going to be forced to use lower settings and the fun factor goes down accordingly.
