Is a 1600W PSU sufficient for an overclocked i7 3930k at 4.8 Ghz and overclocked Quadfire 7970s

I just ordered four ATI Radeon 7970 (4) and I currently have a i7 3930k overclocked to 4.8 Ghz. I also plan of overclocking my 7970s to the fastest clock they can run since I will be watercooling. I bought a Lepa G 1600 in order to be able to run all this but I have been looking for Quad Fire Power Comsumption and all I see is some reviews with Bench test with two 1200watts power supplies.

I am now unsure if my 1600W PSU will be sufficient under heavy load.

hmm... I didn't know they make 1600W PSU. I thought the max was 1500W.

anyways, yes 1600W is more than enough. make sure its 80 gold rated PSU.

I would save your money and just get 2x7970.

I just sold one of my 6970 as even doing crossfire 6970 was noticeably less smooth than just using one of them

My st1500 so far handles my rig pretty well. It pulls 1600w+ from the wall so I've got some padding left. Btw, that's peaking 1600w in Heaven.

7970's might look like they sip power because of the pitiful stock (dare I say underclocked) speed and being leashed by powertune. But when you clock it to 1300/1700 plus and raise powertune, now it's on a whole other level.

You will be fine.

I run quadfire 5870's and a 2600k at silly volts on a Corsair AX1200.

Just make sure it is a good supply or use the PSU Calculator by Phaedrus.

Is your i7 3820 heavily OCed?

I have:

2xMCP 655 Pumps.
25 x Fans
2 x SSD
1 x HDD
1 x Bluray
2m x Led Strip


I also only have 15 amps breaker for my Rig+ Triple Monitors + Speakers ( another concern)
