Is a 1600W PSU sufficient for an overclocked i7 3930k at 4.8 Ghz and overclocked Quadfire 7970s - Page 2

I've got a Thermaltake 1000W (Forget the name, but its fully modular) 80 certed, With 2 7970s at 1300/1700 And a 3770k with its nuts clocked off at 4.8, And according to the meter im only just draining 1050 Watts under full load, So yeah They are Sipping power in comparison to previous generations, Last generations monster the 6990 was capable of drawing up to 500 Watts PER CARD, 2x cards = 1000 Watts straight off the bat.

This is with 7 drives wifi N PCI-E and water cooling setup with 8 ultrakazes + fan controller All powered by the one PSU

I run the 3820 at 5ghz 24/7. I have to take a reading sometime while playing bf3. With day to day gaming power consumption should be less than peak. But Heaven is a pretty realistic barometer of gaming load. Anyways, I think I'm getting close to maxing my circuit, with the rig, 3 screens, reciever, sub, loop, etc. lmaosmiley.gif

I'm glad to hear this, our system look alike and I can finally feel safe. If my house braker trip, I will install a 20 Amp breaker and redo the rewiring.

What do you mean "by I have to take a reading" while playing BF3?

Run the power calculator that is in my sig. Pheadrus made it and he knows power.

And the EVGA power supply I talk about in my sig will do more than 1600 if you hook it up to 220 line power. If it can't power your system you need to go with Mr. Fusion.
