[3dcenter.org] AMD 8000 series code name (Sea Islands ) specs. - Page 7

The g110 chip had only ever been announced by nvidia as a TESLA HPC card! The reality of it coming in a geforce flavor is the technological equivalent of a unicorn, or schuzzlebutt! as of right now, it is only a myth to make the nvidia fanbois feel better about their lackluster and underwhelming geforce kepler...

That is the rebuttal for every debate... ” but omg the g110!”...

No ! Shush! tongue.gif

Hey AMD, how about some optimized 7xxx series drivers before you shove another series down our throats.

Have the same card than you and no problem except i'm running with AMD! wink.gif

Most of the advancements made, graphically are on the programming level. Programming and changing the way memory is assigned and unassigned. hardware would be a lot more useful if programmers new what to work with, for a duration, as opposed to changing things up so often. I'm only using consoles as an example to point out how efficiently they are used. They only have like a 1/16th of most PC gamer's memory, sure they only run at 720p but graphically, it' amazing and more appreciating. Here's an example, you buy a card and try to discover all of these neat tweaks, for some reason, you just can't break 15FPS in Crysis, so you think "I've tried everything I can, I must just need to buy a bigger card." A year or two go by and many patches later, using that same card, suddenly you are getting amazing performance out of the game, with the same Exact system.

Another thing...using Tessellation as an example. Tessellation has obviously been a concept since 2005 but we didn't really start hearing about it until recently, yet the 360 is running a low level of tessellation (limited only by memory). Certain PC GPU's have also been shipping with tessellators for sometime (since the ATI2000 series), though unused and only made available for use via DX11. The software hadn't caught up to the hardware. So yes, having the 5970 be around for 5 years wouldn't be horrible at all. From the time of the 2600XT til now, processing speed and memory speed on these cards haven't changed to greatly. I remember my RX2600XT (DX10 card) running at 850mhz core with 512mb of DDR4 memory. If anything maybe just offer cards with higher memory amounts. There needs to be some sort of hardware cap. People shell out hundreds of dollars every year, just to run max settings when it can be done with even the most mid-range of cards. I went through the same stuff with Farcry 1, Doom 3, Half life 2 etc. running everything at medium/ medium-high settings and miraculously, a year later I could run high settings or the same settings with much more AA/ AF, two years later faster yet and my computer never changed.

We just dont want to play games. Its like saying you can go from point A to B with any car but its how you get there and how fast. We want the best graphics a game can offer.

I had a 450. Pretty midrange imo. It sucked. Barely ran BF3 at medium. I REALLY dont agree with you on midrange running max settings.
