My new ivy build, 2560x1440 worth it?

Thread Starter
I wil be building this for gaming.
Battlefield 3 needs to run a steady 60 fps or more, in multiplayer tongue.gif

(New parts)
CPU
Core i5-3570K

€ 211,-

RAM
G.Skill F3-2400C10D-8GTX

€ 94,-

Motherboard
Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe

€ 214,-

SSD
Corsair Force GT 120GB

€ 136,50

And what i stil got from this build and wil be using.

(Old parts)
GPU
Gtx 460 sli @ 900 mhz core clock

CPU Cooler
Corsair H60

Case
Corsair Obsidian 650D

Hard Drive
Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm

I'm thinking of replacing my gtx 460 sli for GTX680-DC2T-2GD5 (TOP) but i will see how it goes for now.
And maybe my cpu cooler sinds the ivy cpu runs really warm?
I wanto be able to overclock it to around 4.5 ghz or so.

Any thoughts on what to change? smile.gif

Thanks

The intel cooler is bad imho. The stock one i got ran at like 50 idle (bad!)

Pick up the 680 but if no money then the sli 460s should hold you off a bit.

Also if you even are thinking about oc'ing. Then you need better cooling. On the budget side, 212 series is the way to go.

hes using his H60.

Edit:

I think it looks good but would be best getting a fast single GPU if you can afford it, if not that sli 460's should be fine.

Get an M4 or Samsung 830 SSD.

No need for the Deluxe for the mobo, the normal V is good enough.

670 for the GPU.

Hey, just changed a few things.

CPU

Core i5-3570K
€ 220,-

GPU
Asus GTX690-4GB5
€ 926

RAM

G.Skill F3-2400C10D-8GTX
€ 94,-

Motherboard

Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe
€ 214,-

SSD
Corsair Force GT 120GB
€ 136,50

KEYBOARD
Razer Black Widow Ultimate
€ 120,-

MOUSEPAD

Razer Scarab
€ 40,-

Total
€ 1750

Thought might aswell get a gtx 690 4gb it will last longer with that amount of vram then the 680 and if i ever need it in the future i could just get another 690 when the price is dropped smile.gif

And another reason why i want the gtx 690 is becouse i want to play either on a 120hz monitor in 3D or a 2560x1440 monitor, and i still wanto max out the settings in BF3 tongue.gif

But i really dont know if a 2560x1440 is worth it, anyone that owns or has seen it, is it a big difference between a 1920x1080 monitor for gaming?

What can i compare it with?

Becouse if the difference is not much i might aswell get a 120hz monitor and play in 3D.

I wanted these monitors:

Dell Ultrasharp U2711
€ 585,90

Or

Samsung Syncmaster S27A750D
€ 299,-

Both 27 inch.

Far worth it. For me, going up to 2560x1440 was like putting on glasses for the first time as a near sighted person. The image is just incredible.

I have two GTX 670's coming tomorrow to complete my build. If you want to upgrade and don't want to spend for the 680, get the 670.

Ok thanks guys, so 2560x1440 will be worth it over a 120hz monitor.

3D will get boring anyway after a few months i think.
So let the high resolution come! biggrin.gif

Greg1184 gratz on your gtx 670's! smile.gif

It's really nice on a 30" monitor.
