The Apple loyalists are pretty brainwashed though. Check out this exact same thread over at AppleInsider.com
http://forums.appleinsider.com/t/151011/apple-wins-injunction-against-samsung-galaxy-nexus-smartphone
That thread makes the Apple fans on this site seems so level headed, which for the most part, they are.

It's not because they use a different device, it's because of their ignorance, their hatred, their stupidity, their lies and their constant bogus attacks on Apple and Apple users.

I would like to see Android completely destroyed. Windows 8 and other systems can be allowed to survive, because I don't really care about them. Android should die though, because I don't like their users.

Yea, I'ma stay here. OCN is warm is cozy, comparatively.

I <3 our apple fans.

Well, OCN and other sites show how brainwashed Apple haters and Android fans are.

Just a few comments above here, OCNers state that Apple has done no innovation. That couldn't be farther from the truth.
Apple has been incredibly innovative in the last decade, and you'd be lying to yourself if you try to deny that fact.

Well supposedly, they were asking an unfair sum of money to be able to licence the patents.

But all in all, it's all the same. These patents are just like cards used in a game of poker to win.
It's the job of the patent system to not give away patents for such general things, and it's the duty of the justice system to distinguish between was should be enforced, and what should not.

imagine*

why would they do that?

Google is a marketing(data mining) company through and through, the most exposure they can get, the more profit.

It would do more harm to google than apple, there are tons of other competing services out there and that would ostracize a good portion of their user base.

Google is smart not to retaliate but focus on developing the Android platform further. This is what Apple should be doing a long time ago.

Time will tell, apple will need another "hit" to stay alive for another 25 years (unless the really start to differentiate), I am interested to see what it will be. thumb.gif

The second point was Mr. Jobs personally vendetta, which I will never understand headscratch.gif
He believed Android copied iOS and didn't like that it was successful. It's as simple as that. Perhaps there was some interactivity between Apple and Google that went sour or something else we don't know about that ticked Jobs off.

And Apple never copied anything to get to where they're at?

Don't make me post the video where they shamelessly copy...

Apple sues over "Slide to Unlock", and now over a simple way to search your phone. The irony is they're suing a SEARCH ENGINE over search patents? ridiculous.
The patent was filed in 2004, before the iPhone even existed.
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/8086604.html
But now, if Apple wins this case, no other cell phone will be able to do a search?

Quickly scanning the patent, it looks like that one is for the iPhone's built in search. It searches the indexed phone itself, while also enabling your search query to be redirected to a search engine if you are looking for something on the web. It would be like if the unified bar in Chrome also searched your hard drive. If the Nexus does this, I don't see why they shouldn't sue.

Quickly scanning at the patent, it was filed 3 years before the iPhone existed.

Google holds a lot of search patents as well, I look forward to their response.

Every search engine, wordpress blog, website, library, etc "have search functions that facilitate easy retrieval of information through a single universal interface"

Google Desktop has been doing this for years.

This patent is beyond broad, and every website that has a search function would be in violation.

All this patent describes is a search box, and listing all items from the database or the web in one list. Pretty sure Apple didn't invent this.

I wasn't arguing otherwise? I know Jobs said that, but that doesn't mean he can't go on a personal rampage against Android because of it. (I'm not expressing my opinion on the matter of who copied who, I'm just saying Jobs believed Android copied iOS and thus wants to destroy them.)

Very possible. The company has always been so dependently hostile though, not licencing their tech to others, refusing to license from others, and patenting everything under the sun to prevent others from even remotely having a similar function (this is a general statement), regardless of how it gets there.

^this.

It was tit-for-tat from what I remember and that's what was irrational in my perception. It was just hate/passion/marketing being directed towards the competitive camp in such a hostile manor that made me confused. Wasn't jobs always like that though? and... how much did jobs actually control what was happening rather than being just a mouthpiece.
