So I was one of the first to buy one of the Korean IPS monitors everybody is now going crazy over and just today I broke my Shimian. Long story short, I attempted to throw a 1/8" audio plug at my brother that was running into my room and hit my monitor instead. Turned it on and boom, the bottom half of my monitor was unusable because of the small impact to the mid-left section of the screen.
The funny thing is just the other day I dropped my Galaxy S phone and also had to spend $100 on a replacement screen. Screens are breaking all over the place!
Ever since I bought the monitor more have been discovered and the price quickly dropped to around $300 for the Shimian. I can always contact dream-seller and tell him my story and kindly ask him to send me a flawless panel for $300 but maybe there's a better 27" IPS variant out there. That's why I made this thread, to make it much easier for myself to find out if I'll make a mistake that I will deeply regret.
By better variant, I have something like much better bezel construction quality in mind as I just might buy a better stand for the monitor and a pretty bezel would be a must for me.
Also, to anybody that is thinking about using my guide to remove the glass off of the tempered glass Shimian, DON'T DO IT unless its for repairs. I originally did it to remove the dust from under the glass but quickly learned the glare was reduced. Having a chance to waste +$300 on a monitor is not worth the benefit.
