Time for a mouse (G9x vs CM Spawn) - Page 3

Mhm.

I couldn't imagine being Angle snapping in a game. I don't think it even works in games.

As for the logo coming off, had one for years and that never happened.

IT uses a commercial grade sensor as well, AVAGO-9500, it's very good.

Angle snapping was off by default. Acceleration was at 1.

If I didn't get my G9x for free, I would of purchased the Spawn.

I've used my G9x for about 3 years now, best mouse I've ever used. I'm not having any of the problems people are saying about things rubbing off either.

precedent G9 had a CPU usage issue, this G9x is the same ?

I owned the original G9, but not the G9X. The shape was pretty nice, but I used the rubberized grip because I liked the thumb cutout. I have been using the CM Storm Spawn since I picked it up about a month ago and I really love it. Great tracking, no issues with v61 firmware on a white Puretrak Talent with a tape fix. The buttons are probably my favorite part of the mouse- light force needed, very springy and lots of clicky feedback. It's replaced my Deathadder Black as my main mouse now. I'd say the only downside is the thick rubber cord, but that's just an opinion. The quality of the cord seems pretty high, I'd just prefer something either braided or a thinner more plyable cord like on the IME 3.0. From what I've seen, it looks like the sensor in the G9X has a bit of inherent acceleration (although I never noticed it on my Xai, which uses the same sensor), so if you're looking for accuracy you're better off with the Spawn. If you don't care about the accel or are a high sensitivity user, go with the G9X. I'd give an edge to the Spawn for comfort too.

same here finding the cm storm spawn > G9X not only in ways of tracking but aswell in comfort.

I've been using the spawn since it was released in the states; I had a g9x previously among (lots of) other mice. The spawn wins on comfort and the lower weight. That area for the ring finger does wonders. It had some growing pains with firmware but now is, imo, one of the best mice available. It is also half the price of the g9x.

The main thing holding back the g9x is the weight. Its a brick. And thats without the weight tray. If you are going to add a weight system to a mouse, how about starting out light? rolleyes.gif

Another mouse to consider for your grip and button preference is the Abyssus. Slightly lighter than the spawn, thinner, less comfy to grip.

I'm surprised no one brought up the fact that the G9x is laser and the Spawn is optical. You have two mice that will feel completely different in game. The two tracking technologies do not perform the same way. For me laser mice feel very inconsistent and almost jumpy across the screen. Good optical mice on a quality mouse pad are very smooth. I own a Spawn and love it. I also have a G400 and hate it. Coming from a MX518 which I loved.

I use the Spawn in a 5 finger grip though. Thumb on the side buttons, index finger on button 1, middle finger on scroll, ring finger on button 2 and pinky on the finger rest. It's incredibly comfortable for small hands. I use the CM Xornet for office use.
