Waiting on some MDPC sleeves and kit. Got anxious so played around with some cables. I can't say I like it more than sleeved cables, but I can't say I hate the look either. Could clean up real good with some shrink wrap and maybe even unmatching wire colors. Thoughts?

I don't know how this will effect longevity of the wire... and it did cut the length of the cable down by half.

New to OCN, so forgive my lack of thread making skill.

Fan still works, the cable shrunk like a 2/3rds of the original length, so I'm going to have to splice some longer cables on for this to be practical.

I like it.

I can see this becoming a way to make low quality sleeve look good (you know, the kind you can see right through and is really just for keeping the wires bound?) I think it would be cool to have that tightly stretched over the braid to keep it tidier looking but still show the braid under it!

Why even bother with cheap sleeving at all, the braiding looks neater and the sleeving would just cover it up and make it thicker.

It looks okay, however, from the pic, the thickness would be similar to a pencil. If you are into thick cables and the look of thick wires... I guess it would work well especially with uv reactive cables. The braid it self looks cleaner though.

I'll do some length tests after the forth of july..

Im pretty sure that's the biggest deal breaker(if you don't want to splice cables) and would only work well with extremely long cables which you don't usually find inside cases.

It can't imagine it making it much thicker. Looking at the picture above confirms that.

The objective reasons are two-fold, along with a third personal reason:

Firstly, it would help protect the braided (and thus "loopy") cables from getting snagged or hooked onto something.

Secondly, it helps hide the imperfections / inconsistencies in the braid, while still showing the very interesting pattern and colors (hence cheap sleeve rather than expensive sleeve which would cover it up entirely).

I also happen to like the smooth edges. While the braid looks awesome, I hate how jagged the edges look and a cheap sleeve would fix that.
