OEM licenses are tied to the motherboard of the specific machine they ship with, so nope.

The APU suggestion looks nice but the APU needs to be in a small form factor to be worthwhile at this budget.  Otherwise, you could (and should) configure something on socket AM3+.

Cpu
Motherboard
Ram
Video card
Hard Drive
Case
Power Supply

Post above looks like he has some pretty good deals, might want to check them out.

You might want to see if you can combo any of this stuff, as it can allow free upgrades/save 10-30 dollars.

Also if you want you can try and get a "open box" deal on newegg, normally you can get a 6850/6870 for 70-90 dollars, but with the downsides of going openbox. Gotta be fast though if you decide to go this route.

Also if the shipping cost is too much I'd heavily suggest using the shoprunner trial but make sure you remove your credit card+turn auto renew off so that you don't get charged 70 dollars.

Edit: I took other builds suggested by posters into consideration, you can be assured this is one hell of a deal, I welcome anyone to say otherwise.

well at 25% over budget i'm sure we could all come up with better builds.

if you are able to convince your friend to spend more money, OP, thehidecheck's is definitely a good price/performance build. i would just spend about $20 more on the hard drive and not have the headache that the recommended drive seems to have caused some other folks. check the rating.
