First Build - Under 1.5K Budget.

Thread Starter
So its my first build and i'm looking forward to it. I'm new to this so I will be asking a lot of your opinions.
This is also going to be a gaming PC.

Ok, to start I think i'm going to get the corsair 650D - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139006
It has 2 200mm fans with 4 speeds (Good for future OC) and plenty of room for the long GPU I want.

For the PSU, I'm thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182263
Enough watts for when i decide to go into SLI.

For the CPU, i'm set on an i7 2700K. No doubt about that.
I want to be able to OC.

Now is where i need help.
I need a motherboard that can handle
- SLI
- Minimum of 4 DDR3 Sockets
- Intel Core i7
- OC

I know I want a GTX 670 4gb SC for my system. - http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=04G-P4-2673-KR&family=GeForce%20600%20Series%20Family&sw=

Any other suggestions for the rest of the build would be appreciated. Also, i'm trying to keep it under 1.5k.

Just curious if you are dead set against a X79 platform? It'll make the budget a real challenge to stay under $1500 since you are specking out at $500 graphics card, but you'll have IB-E support when it comes out next year and the X79 boards are known to be great overclockers.

There are a few other differences between the X79 and Z77, mostly irrelevant for your situation, but the main thing is whether or not you want headroom to grow down the road. Just food for thought.

+$50 for a LGA-2011 mobo from Asus or ASRock
+$50 or so if you want quad channel memory
+$270 if you want the fully unlocked i7-3930K instead of the partially unlocked i7-3820 (4.3 GHz cap)

What resolution are you going to be gaming at? I would also get something other than Rosewill for my power supply.

You seem awfully sure of several sub-optimal parts for being relatively new to building. What is your monitor setup? Are monitors part of your budget? Are you going to want to produce a stream? (If no: the i7 is a complete waste of $100, though perhaps you simply enjoy pulling a $100 bill out of your wallet and lighting it on fire, if so, more understandable).

Rosewill Capstone is an exceptionally high-quality PSU line, one of the best available. Usually a bit expensive for my tastes though.

I already have a 27in monitor.
Also, what do you mean by "stream"?
Like live streaming gameplay?
Also, i think i've changed my mind with the CPU. I have a z77 mobo so i was going to get a i5 3570k ivy bridge.
Yes, live streaming gameplay. If you want to create one, an i7 will add some power. If not, an i5 is better.

What kind of 27" monitor? 1920x1080, 1920x1080 120hz, or 2560x1440? Even at 2560x1440, 2gb should be plenty. If you'd like, I could suggest a build.

There is absolutely no reason to buy a 4GB video card at that resolution, save the money and go with the 2GB 670, you will be more than fine.
