Overclocking with Stock Cooler

Thread Starter
So I will be using my new 2700k soon and i wanted to know if the stock cooler is good enough for overclocking.I plan of overclocking to 4.0-4.5 ghz with the cpu.I currently have CoolerMaster HAF x with a total of 7 Fans in the case with positive airflow.
Right now with my i5 650 My cpu usually i max's at 40 degrees Celsius while under load.
What would be the estimate temperatures with the stock cooler on my 2700k while overclocked to 4-4.5 ghz?

simply put, no. The stock cooler should be replaced anyways even if you are not over clocking to ensure the safety of your equipment.

^^ what he said, They should have never shipped those heatsinks with "K" chips either should have been upgraded or none at all so people don't attempt to overclock on stock cooling.

Just get the cooler master hyper 212+
Should be 20-30$
If you want, add another fan to it. It comes with a 2nd bracket.
It make your cpu ice cold.

The stock cooler is crap. I could barely do prime on stock speeds.

Although prime does not apply to real life situations for a cpu, it does show that a cpu can get nice and toasty if it is not properly cooled.

I think that will only be as good as the stock cooler.

Thats why I recommend the cooler master hyper 212+
Its cheap
its efficient
Its awesome

No double-post please thumb.gif and no it won't be enough at all, this is basically the same design as the stock cooler, maybe improved a bit.

But you know a 2600k at stock clocks is awesome already and you can always overclock later.

Hyper 212 Evo (successor of the Plus) is the best choice for price/performance.

no that one is not any good. its on par with a stock cooler

if you cant afford the proper equipment to overclock, then you should not be overclocking.
