Custom thermal armor

Thread Starter
So currently I have the motherboard in my sig and I was hoping to do a thermal armour mod just like the Sabertooth's armour. I was wondering what material is used for the thermal armour and if there is anything I sould consider before cutting out a piece to fit my motherboard.

You should consider that the genuine Thermal Armor was designed by a team of professional engineers. It has integrated fans and channels molded into the armor designed to direct airflow over hot components. Plus, the Sabertooth Z77 has special convection holes in the PCB to facilitate underside airflow.

DIY thermal armor is going to do nothing but suffocate motherboard components and cause them to run hotter - perhaps to the point of damage - than stock. If you really want Thermal Armor, sell your mobo and use the proceeds toward the purchase of a Z77.

You've covinced not to bother then.

Keep in mind there is a P67 sabertooth that will work fine with your 2500k, they are probably a bit cheaper now the z77 is out.

I know but that would require me to buy a new copy of Windows. How can I color the motherboard heat sinks black or white?
I think you just need to take off the heatsinks and spray paint them.

I heard that insulates them and prevents them from cooling properly.

Beadblast,anodize.
Or chemical strip & powdercoat.
Ceramic paints are available.
Minimum would be "BBQ grille" paint or Engine paint, thinner the better...

Is ceramic paint definitely ok? Can you explain the chemical strip and powdercoat one more? How can i colour the scokets for plugs (blue to black)
ooh.
Was thinking of heatsinks only.

Maybe get the colored COVERS for sockets(PCIe,PCI,etc) & cut slits in them to apply cards..
Sockets?8pin PCIe stuff?
Get tool to allow pull pins & find black sockets...
Xoxide?CrazyPC?
Some extensions are avail w/color choice of sleeves AND connectors...
