What is the general consensus on Logitech Gaming Software, is it necessary to install it? I don't have plans to remap any of the buttons.
Yeah, prediction free. Box came with the "Logitech" stickers and it's got a S/N.

As far as the software, I haven't installed theirs and don't plan to. Runs great for me right out of the box.

I use it mainly to reduce polling rate from 1000Hz to 125Hz and apply custom 1200DPI. Other than that it's nice for special purposes like for example different X Y DPI in some old games running in wide screen to compensates sensitivity bug.

Just got my new G400 that logitech sent for free and this one has no such issue. So it is a defect, not an inherent part of the design.

You can change the DPI to custom settings?
