Cannot get 120hz to work on LG W2363D Monitor.

Thread Starter
So everything on this monitor seems to work just fine, except for when I attempt to change the refresh rate to 120hz. When I do so, the monitor itself changes the resolution to 960x1080 instead of 1920x1080, and it makes for a very compressed picture. Taking a screenshot shows that the GPU is outputting 1920x1080, so the monitor here is at fault. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have tried both HDMI and DVI, and two different video cards. It is really started to drive me nuts frown.gif See SS below:

Might be a silly question, but is your DVI cable a DVI-D version ?

Only asking because I have the same monitor, and I had to get a DVI-D (Dual link) cable from Amazon (At that time it was the easiest way).

EDIT: This fella have the same problem. Read the whole thread smile.gif

In response to both posts:

I thought of the DVI link being the culprit, and I have yet to test this theory. The monitor came with a DVI-D single link cable (verified this last night), so I am using the DVI-D single link. Should I purchase a dual-link and try it out?

As far as I can see there have been multiple cases of this problem with different screens and graphics cards, and the solution has been the cable/port.

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=187064

edit: kind of thick of the producers to ship a 120hz screen with a single link DVI cable if that is the problem.

Wow I searched and searched for this problem but could not find anything. Thank you so much for that link, because I am having the exact problem that they are, so if their problems were fixed with the dual-link cable, then hopefully that will work for me as well. +1 rep for both for the help.

BTW it was awfully stupid of them to ship this with a single link -_- Not to mention that mine also came with a VGA cable but this monitor has no VGA output...

Yah, I got the W2363D when it was released - When i discovered that the cable that was included (In the box, not a supplied one from the seller) was a single link, man did I loose some respect.
Its just crazy that they can sell a monitor, slam Nvidia 3D stickers all over the box and write 120Hz everywhere else, and still ship it with a single link cable.

Update! I just got home from work and purchased a DVI-D Dual Link cord. What do you know...the monitor works BEAUTIFULLY! I can't believe it all came down to the cable. LG really needs to rethink their packaging!
