7870 pcie 3.0 question

Thread Starter
So i'd been deciding whether to go with a MSI twin frozr 7950 or a 7870 and today newegg made my mind for me as they dropped the price of the 7870 by 20 bucks bringing it to 300, 280 after MIR sweet deal! So now I have a question my mobo is a gigabyte z68ap-d3 and utilizes pcie 2.0 and has an x 16 slot, my question is will the performance be less considering the 7870 is set to use pcie 3.0?

Current cards barely saturate at high resolutions. For example, TechPowerUp did a PCIe scaling test with a GTX 680 and a 7970. Neither card made any significant difference at higher resolutions.
