a 550ti isnt going to do what you want.
edit, also is every item needed? do you have monitor, keybord, or mouse?

Yeah, I do have an old 21 inch monitor, logitech keyboard and an razer mouse from when i played games on my laptop. but besides that I do not have any other computer hardware.

This brings up a question, will I need speakers/sound card?
You would need speakers if you want to use them or if you already have earphones/headphones, that would be fine too.
Sound cards aren't really necessary.
It's a computer.

Ah in that case I can hold off on speakers and just use my headphones for the time being

whats the max resolution for the monitor you will use? will you upgrade to a higher resolution monitor? and do you want a build thats good for the price, or a rige thats pretty good and has room for upgrades down the road?

It's got a lot more room for cables and will keep the build looking cleaner, and the interior is nice and painted providing for a much cleaner looking PC.
It also has rotated hard drive bays making them easier to install(although the plastic mounts can be a pain sometimes), and the 5.5" bay clips are really nice to use. Not to mention the NZXT has a cutout to access the rear of the motherboard easily, making it simple to install an aftermarket cooler. Once you opt for a more builder-oriented case, you will not regret it. Also of note is NZXT's customer service. We all know that it's never a fun experience and we don't want to think about needing to deal with a defective or missing component(and it shouldn't happen to you), but their customer service is amazing and they are active with the community.
The Antec 900 was an excellent case for it's time, and I won't deny that. It was once excellent for the the budget gamer, but it is a bit lacking now that a few more companies have stepped up the the plate. If the Phantom 410 isn't your thing, there are many other options from multiple different manufacturers. If you tell us a bit more about what you are looking for, we can probably find something a bit better to fit your interests and budget.

I had completely missed this post, That case definately sounds alot nicer and is even a bit cheaper. I'm not too picky about the case as long as its not too big and easy to work with. Although a decent amount of usb ports would be a convinient aspect, just because i usually have 2-3 things being plugged in besides a keyboard/mouse.

Thanks for the suggestion!

my monitor is 1600x900 and im more leaning towards a decent starter setup that can hopefully do the things I want for the time being, and then upgrades would be slowly implemented down the line.

Then the Corsair PSU here also had a -$10 promo code which I can't remember...

The Case here is actually just a placeholder since it's more of personal preferences in looks.

considering your budget i would consider the I3 2100 for your cpu with a decent z77 or z68 mobo

edit: also what else will you be using your computer for? will it be primarily for games, or will you be mixing and editing movies, music etc etc

[example]
50%games
20% music editing
30% web surfing

hate when i accidentally quote myself... makes me seem crazy...

whats more important to you, having your games and system start up and load faster, or having more than enough space for all of your music pictures and videos?

either are fine, and easily upgraded for less than $100

its just the initial setup for your puter. speed vs space. if you go speed you can always add another hdd for storage space.

if you go space, you wont see the speed but gameplay wont dimish too much either, in benchmarks yes but day to day play no.

the upside to going with a ssd to start is that there will be no fresh install of windows when you upgrade, you can just add another hdd for storage. but if you opt for more storage in the inital build then you can always get a ssd for smart caching(this is of course if you opt for intel over amd(CPU selection)) or to use as your new(much faster) boot drive. the problem with using a hdd as your boot device is that if you go to switch to a ssd you need to do a fresh install of windows, but you can add a ssd to be used for the ssd caching in windows to get similar performance as a ssd.
