Need Help Upgrading Asrock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 Build

Hey guys, I want to upgrade a few things in my computer and I need your help.

This is my current build: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/4280435

529

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz

RAM: Kingston HyperX blu 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz
size: 8 GBytes

OS: MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

Case: Cooler Master HAF912

Motherboard: ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3

Hard Drive: 360GB Seagate ATA Device (SATA) @ 5400 RPM

Monitor: Asus VE198/208 LED Monitor

Audio: Realtek High Definition Audio

Graphics: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GT 430

Optical Drive: DVD-RW ATA Device

Power: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 700W

I want to upgrade to a better hard drive, and also a cooler for the CPU so I can overclock. I plan on buying the GTX 660 if it ever comes out, if it doesn't, then I'll probably get the GTX 670 later on this year. Well currently, I need a new hard drive really bad, I'm running out of space and this hard drive is so old and slow.

I am looking for a 1TB hard drive 7200 RPM. What's the best one out there that would work well with my build? I found this on newegg, but it seems that it has some bad reviews, also I am not sure if it is compatible with my build. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=22-136-533&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=3#scrollFullInfo

Also I want to start overclocking with my i5 2500k, this will be the first time I overclock, so I need a cooler or something. I was looking at the Cosair h100, h80, etc. Which is the best Cooler you guys think would go well with my build and my computer case. My price range below:

1TB Hard Drive & Cooler: $200 or below (I would like to stay in a $200 range). I would go a little above that $250 or so, only if it's really worth it.

BTW a nice hard drive, a cooler, and a GTX 660/670 would complete my build in the future right? What you guys think? Is there anything else I might need? BTW I'm a gamer, student, and casual PC user. I store A LOT of music and games on my PC, heavy gamer.

Thanks for reading.

For the hard drive, you can probably get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840 It's somewhat identical to what you posted, yet it is cheaper

For the CPU cooler, you can get
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 if you want to air cool. It's good and it does the job thumb.gif

If you want to go water cooling, you can get
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181015

Both of these 2 are good enough for some slight OC'ing, unless you're really going to ramp up the voltages.

These 2 will be about 140-150USD and you can invest the remaining in better graphics in the future, save the money, or get a simple SSD boot drive like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227725 which would make things a lot faster biggrin.gif

Thanks for the advice jvkua.

I will be going with the Seagate Barracuda hard drive you recommended: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840

I don't plan on doing too much heavy overclocking so I think the H60 and the Hyper 212 EVO are good recommendations, but do you think the H60 would be quieter than the Hyper 212 EVO? Also I plan on adding a few more fans, maybe two Megaflow 200mm Red LED, one on the top and one on the front. Do you think that the 200mm fan would fit with an H60? Any tips for fans + cooling combination that will fit in my case best, make the least noise, and cool my system well? Like I said, I don't plan on overclocking too heavy.

How quiet those will be will depend on the type of fans you're using. So if you buy fans that are quieter, then it will be quieter biggrin.gif

The 200mm fan won't fit with the H60 because the H60 was made for a 120mm fan. The combination that would make the least noise would be having a 200mm fan each on the top and the front, then having the h60 connected to the back with 2 fans unless you were to go with the Hyper 212 which would require you to have a 120mm in the back, and the Hyper 212 having it's own fan/s
