It might take a while to damage the CPU, but in the short term you could definitely blow that motherboard up.

The motherboard VRM's you blow for sure, the CPU lifespan would be shortened significantly,AMD sets the safe voltage max at 1.5 for a reason lol.

Even with 12+2 VRMs?

(no I'm not still considering this)

I'd bet your also running an Intel... Absolutely no comparison.

EDIT: Or you could be running a BD, still no comparison.

1.75v calls for a fire hazard. As a suicide run for a screen shot it would be fine but that's it. I've seen people running at 1.6v for a long time. Further than that on air cooling is just not worth it.

So I asked something similar to this a while back and was wondering the same thing, even still. I've got a water cooled loop that's a bit overkill on radiators (twin 360mm radiators for an FX4100 and a GTX470). I got a pretty stable OC to 5GHz at 1.52V, but after P95 for about an hour my max temp was like 51C. Max temp it's rated for is 71C. I've got a GA990FXA-UD3 that I'm afraid to blow (less afraid to blow the chip)....but I was hoping I could go ahead and turn up the voltage as long as my temps stay below 60C.
