they run BF3 Operation swordbreaker from the time you get out of the humvee right upto the time you skill the sniper. a 10 min fraps run through and guess what GTX 680 is not faster at 1600p. they are very close with the Radeon HD 7970 Ghz just ahead. show me a site which does a 10 min scenario for their benchmark. most do 1 or 2 min which could skew things towards either card.

a few other reviews

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/AMD-Radeon-HD-7970-3GB-GHz-Edition-Review-Taking-GTX-680/Battlefield-3

again both cards are neck to neck at 1600p with the Radeon HD 7970 is just slightly ahead. but call it a draw if you want.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7970_GHz_Edition/9.html

Radeon HD 7970 Ghz is 6% faster at 1600p.

so if you want you can keep mud slinging or just accept the cards are very close at 1600p.

i would go for ati,if it wasnt for the fact that i know nvidia is way more agile then amd on the driver front ,not faster in delivering them, just better at givving what user need.for this reason i went to nvidia!

there are no VRAM problems the GTX 680 will run into at 1600p. VRAM might improve performance in multi monitor resolutions with high AA.

Those links are relevant, from the benchmarks I've seen the 4GB doesn't perform any better on BF3 at 1600p than the regular 2GB version. In fact if the OP already has a 2GB version I would say to just stick it out with that.

Let me ask you something, how many times have I told you that I was in agreement that the HD 7970 was the better card for anything greater than 1920X1200? What part of that sentence do you not understand?

You are a very annoying individual......dude, posting the same crap over and over again as if you were some sort of "BOT" programmed to spout the same repetitive stuff over and over again when the words nvidia and ati are used together in the same sentence. You try so hard to defend your posistion even after myself and a few others have made it very clear that we were in agreement with you about the whole 1600p hooplah that you keep bringing up.

My goodness I said one thing about "Toms hardware" and you immediately jump into a defensive stance ready to defend your precious ATI at all cost when I didnt even say anything about them to begin with!

So.......... relax and stop trying so hard to prove a posistion that has already been settled.

So there is nothing you differ on as far as this thread is concerned . OP was asking for the better option for 1440p . I think your answer is clear. move on.

Someone just told me there is a 4GB 670 and that I should go for that instead of the 680 because the performance is nearly the same? I don't want to edit the poll, but is there any legitimacy to that statement?
