My i3570K OC...keep going? [PIC]

Thread Starter
So I'm 12+ hours stable at 4.5Ghz. I've tried going to 4.6 and 4.7 but it seems 4.5 is the limit I get to before I have to start really increasing the voltages. Since I have no AC in the room where my computer is I'm hesitant to do that at this point. Thoughts? Suggestions?

If those are your temps after 12 hours, I would say its safe to go further. I am not sure what the max is on that chip heat wise, but I don't think I would suggest trying to get close to it, but you are still pretty far off.

that chip is pretty nice my previous 3570k took 1.225v to get to 4.5
my 3770k took 1.25v

i noticed there being basically two walls that prevents 4.7+
1. begin the regular vcore wall and efficiency
2. dat dam cheap thermal paste item used. we should only be getting 10c lower under full load.
i wonder if the stock heatsink is enought for stock settings..

wats your ambient temp? i would expect you would get better temps with a full WC

My ambient temps are right where idle temps yesterday when my max temps go up to 75C was about 30C. It's a little cooler today which is why my temps are down more. Like I said no AC where my computer is.

4.5ghz with max temp of 75C is pretty darn perfect and completely safe. If you really want to push it more...I'd take it up to 80C on max temp (safe)...whatever overclock that ends up being. I really won't go passed 80C unless you are desperate for every inch of speed...I personally don't think it's worth it after 80C. I think most people consider 75C is the most "standard" safe temp though.

I may fool push it further when my ambient temps go down a bit but what scares me is that it seems like to to 4.6-4.7 I have to really start upping the voltage a lot where as at 4.5 all I had to do was raise it one notch above stock.

That does look pretty good for a 3570k, I only tried 1 x 3570k & didn't want another, both of my 3770k did the same frequencies with less voltage & they had HT enabled too.
Ivy may have a higher tjmax, I still dislike temps over 70° though.

If Prime95 doesn't take me over 78 for a chip with a TJmax of 100 then I'm happy. It won't even get close to that in normal use.
