wow i fail...how did i miss this club .w.
well anyway, i was meaning to ask, when yoi tear apaprt your z11 has anyone accidently pulled apart the harddrive LED?
Not that it concerns me at all but im curious because mines the original z11+ however i ripped the blue fans out and replaced them with red ones and such so, for the exceptionof the blue powwr LED(thats forever off now thanks to my bios) the case is red and black, lol.

Apologies for not reading all the thread, but can anyone tell me if the case has a dust filter for the PSU area?

Yes sir it does but it is just preforated plastic and not mesh. I would reccomend a different filter or removing it altogether. It is quite restricting on airflow. http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1950/17_Zalman_Z11_psu_filter.JPG

Picked the Z11 for my new rig, mostly cause it looked awesome and had a lot of cooling potential. Planning on removing the 2 80 mm exhausts and replacing them with 2 blue led versions as intake. going to mount my optical drive in the slot used for the 3.5" external. Going to mount my h80i cpu cooler in the slots above it (plan on starting on the custom mount as soon as it arrives). Will Post pictures when i get it built (waiting on taxes atm). Long live the Z11!

Just to forewarn you about the side intake fan idea. You will need a low profile fan to fit in there and I do not think they make low profile led fans.

Thank you for the info time to do some shopping/rethinking. How deep is the fan mounting area? if anyone could get back to me on this question i would be appreciative.

The reason i am asking is my fans i am planning on installing are 25 mm tall where the fans in the case are 15mm

Here's pictures of the mounting and a couple fans for comparison. The black zalman one came with the case. I believe the led fan pictured is 25mm. So you can see there is not enough clearance unfortunately.

Hrmmm i see what your talking about. Well i have found one 15mm led fan that has been made (Hiper Power UV LED 80 mm) i just have to track two of the darn things down, Or i could throw a cold cathode in each side. And if i get a cathode sound activated module hrmm i think i smell a great idea coming on

I'm thinking some standalone lighting like you are thinking would serve you better as far as the side panels go. To be perfectly honest though I'm not sure why you would want led's in that particular placement. Although I guess it would look neat to have light coming out of the side panel grill. I think I'm going to invest in some white led's for the side panel window. Should look neat with the smoked finish. biggrin.gif
