also you have to think about positive/negative air pressure. with more fans blowing in (in a certain direction) you have less dust build up and better heat loss.
Well ,i've followed your way and after replaced the two stock 80mm fans with two Noctua NFR8 coming from a friend surplus, i flipped them around to blow inside as you did, and i removed the HDD clip panel to set the HDD cage grill free from obstruction and so had the greatest cooling effect and matched the least noise.
Now i have lot of air inside and a very low noise!!
