Valve does it pretty often, and it would be nice. I surely don't expect it, though.

My one and only complaint/counter-point would be que jumping.

While that is a bit unfair in general, in gives absolutely no gameplay advantage in the game itself. Any avid BF3 player would be silly not to get Premium to be frank. You're paying less than you would buying each map separately, much less any of the other goodies. $50 seems completely fair. You can actually it for much less certainly places.

Premium is essentially a bundle of all the future mappacks at a discounted cost. I dont know about you guys but I would rather pay that than buying dlc every time. I paid 40$ for premium and will be getting 16 new maps, 10 new weapons, 4 new vehicles and other random stuff; seems like a pretty good deal for me and people who do not have karkand will be getting even more.

How come people did not have an outroar over the bf1942 expansions which were 30$ each? Or the bf2 special forces and booster packs? or northern strike?

Have you played a bf game before? compared to the problems the other ones had even 2 years past their release this is a walk in the park. I do not even have much problems anymore. Only the client side hit detection which rarely gets me killed in the first place, too many crappy players use that as a excuse of why they died when they just flat out suck.

Games have bugs especially pc games, if you cannot deal with it perhaps you should not play on the pc platform. I will admit I had a host of problems a couple patches before and I took a break from the game. However since I have come back I am having little to no issues. If you have not tried it recently you should maybe they fixed whatever problems you were having.

It's far from beta. Just because they have continued to tweak the game based on player feedback doesn't mean the game was unplayable to begin with. It means DICE is a good company, in spite of EA's involvement.

User review of BF2:
Quote:
The game feels like it is early beta, at best. Ja there are crashes, yes there are bugs, but this is not even what I am talking about. The game itself seems to be missing a lot of polish. When I was playing bf1942, it felt like a finished game. I cannot say the same thing for the sequel.

Maybe they should have "fixed" BF2 first before they launched spec ops, armoured fury and euro forces packs?

User review of BF2142:
Quote:
I want to give BF2142 a high mark, it has the potential. The simple truth is that the game does not work yet. There are massive amounts of disconnects from the EA Master Server for a lot of people. Even more are complaining about crash to desktop and punkbuster kicks. Many cannot even log on. If you really like the BF series, my suggestion is to wait, the game isn't going to be sold out. EADice really need to fix the massive problems that still plague this game. It is a real shame because there is so much potential. Don't take my word for it, go to EA.com and look at the forums for BF2142...there are massive problems.

Maybe they should have "fixed" 2142 before they released Northern Strike?

Then BF3 launches as an imperfect game and all of a sudden " Omg what? THERE ARE BUGS IN A DICE GAME!! THIS IS TOTALLY NEW AND UNHEARD OF!!!"

Then they give more support in terms of fixing bugs/balancing weapons than they ever have and "See! They keep patching it, that means it was unfinished!" Unless we want to go back to the days of BF2/BF2142 and a patch to fix bugs/balance once every blue moon?

In the words of the Mass Effect 3 child: "The cycle continues" tbh.

Did BF2 and BF2142 had a marketting budget of over $50 million, plus huge ammount of hype thanks to the huge advertising campaing that, pitted it directly against MW3?

When you create so much hype and expectations from a game, and make promises like "We're taking over CoD's throne",is it suprising that the fanbase is looking for a perfectly polished game on RELEASE?
I think not,and marketting budget and hype of BF2 and BF2142 never came close to the one of BF3...

They have 800000 reasons to continue in that direction, so why not? It's outrageous and despicable and all that, but people pay for it; why would they stop something their customers are urging them to do?

Your argument is pretty irrelevant in terms of rebutting my point.

My actual point was that people are behaving as if BF3s release in terms of ironing out bugs and the like is a HUUUUUUGE difference from almost any of their Battlefield launches.

Its been like this the whole time and the EXACT SAME arguments put towards BF3 are almost the SAME arguments that were put towards BF2 and are the same put towards BF2142 also, except this time they're not making us wait 4-5 years to release balance/bug fixes.

Infact, here's another user review of BF2 back from 2005:
Quote:
J.White Jul 1, 2005 2 The fact that 'trusted' game reviewers like Game Spot and IGN rate a game like BF2 so highly makes me cringe. The game isn't bad. Aside from some crazy damage modeling issues - playing the game is fine (though the lack of a bot option to fill servers so we don't spent twenty minutes waiting for enough players to join the server should be REQUIRED). The problem is all the endless bugs that plague this game. I 'played' this game for four hours last night with four friends who purchased the game, and over 2.5 hours were spent trying to get all of us onto a ranked server, then trying to find one with decent lag levels, and once we were all on and playing - the random crashes that would hit each of us every so often pretty much required us to start the entire process over again. Getting more than one person onto a ranked server is, as has already been mentioned by other people here, nearly *impossible*! Game reviewer are either in the pockets of big game companies like EA, or have no business reviewing video games when they rate a game so incredibly bug-prone as a 8 or 9 out of 10, or an 80 or 90 out of 100. It's misleading, and dishonest. A word of warning to all potential players/purchasers of this game - wait at least two to three months before you consider buying this game. By then, it may be out of beta testing (we who purchased this game when it was released are essentially the real BF2 beta testers) and only purhcase it at that time if the patch notes for this game are sufficiently long, and detailed. As for the five of us, we're going to try returing our copies of the game this weekend. I'll pick it up when it's in the $10.00 bargain bin next summer - if they've patched it enough to make it worth spending the $10

and another:
Quote:
Played for about 2 years on various top o the line PCs. Good fun for a while but it has glaring balance issues and problems from release with bugs/glitches/bad code. Theres also problems with the hitboxes on models causing hits not to register. This means you can repeatedly knife someone in the face and they dont die... among other things. Support by EA has been so poor that they have had to actually withdraw their infrequent and badly needed patches, they made things worse in some respects. It has "issues" with some hardware combinations, as I personally discovered. I had to UNDERCLOCK some RAM on one PC ( PC was way above system requirements) as it couldn't handle the speed. It will probably work fine for you but dont surprised if your awesome gaming PC has lots of disconnects or crashes to desktop. This is the only program in years that I've seen reset any of my computers. Its a good game, it could have been the best multiplayer game ever but EA rushed it out in a beta stage and never bothered to finish it.

Sound farmiliar??? The same "holy grail" of Battlefield being given almost the same (if not worse) criticisms as the new kid?

Lag. Hitboxes. Bugs. This, that, the kitchen sink.

Imagine that rolleyes.gif

Anyone expecting a "perfectly polished game on RELEASE" from any dev (let alone one with a history of not doing so) deserves any dissappointment they get unless they literally only just started gaming and are more oblivious than they are ignorant.
