[GS] EA looking at more DLC subscription deals - Page 6

Ah I really hate EA right now. When I buy a game I want it to be the whole game not 70% of it. I don't mind if DLC comes out after the game which introduces new levels. I wish they'd all do what CD Projekt Red do frown.gif

Was never much of a MP player, but when it comes to MP games,I never had any real problems with older WW2 CoD games, like CoD 2.Guess we can add CoD 4 to that list too,it's the last CoD game I actively played...

I still won't back down from my point about releasing well polished games,no matter if they're SP,or MP orriented...
Sure, bug fixing in MP is harder, but still,it's not impossible to come out with a nice and stable product, with no major issues...

And I don't recall any rants,to rant about something, you need to have a personal stake in it...
I just said, when a publisher creates huge hype amouts with huge and expensive marketting campaing, gamers will expect a polished game with no major issues on release, and with all smaller bugs quickly fixed. And if EA allocated only a small part of BF3's marketting budget, that would be entirely possible, and you wouldn't have to bother with months of patching and bug fixing post-release...

If people didn't want this becoming popular, it needed to be killed off from where it started. The consoles.
However, if you looked around at the time, you'd see things on forums like "man, I hope they release some DLC for this" and the like. I was literally disgusted back then. I couldn't understand why people would actually want less base content and more after sales.
Was there any media backlash? Nope. Any internet wide "omg we don't want DLC" chanting? A million "down with DLC petitions"? Nope. Nothing.
It was around the GTA IV annoucements regarding "episodic content" that 360 and PS3 fanboys were fighting over. I already knew what was up from back then and I didn't like it. Never have. Never will. When GTA IV released and I found the game soul-less and found the real essence of GTA to be buried within The Ballad of Gay Tony/The Lost and The Damned, I was sure I was right.
Never bought any of the BF2 expansions (till maybe 5 years after release). Never bought Vietnam for BC2. Only reason I got premium for BF3 is because things come in packs rather than a gun here, a map there and such.
About six years later and here we are. Its the new staple for gaming. What the heck is the point of revolting now? This started long, long ago and is now all of a sudden a "problem" with the right scapegoat (I dont see anyone crying about Dawnguard not being included for free in the base Skyrim content, nor do I see people chastising the Civ 5 devs as milking people for adding features that were a staple of older Civ games as an expansion pack).
The real problem is that people only complain about things when it either suits (or doesn't suit) them or when everyone else is doing it. Or wait till it becomes standard, then whining because it finally affects them personally.
I have no sympathy for that mindset at all.
That was a great post,I fully agree...
It's over now, majority of the consumer base showed the industry they don't mind DLC,and incomplete games made as DLC holders, and no sense revolting now, nothing can't be accomplished anymore.Just like you,I never showed support to these new "anti-consumer strategies",and bought maybe 1-2 pieces of DLC,but in the grand scale, does it even matter anymore?

I mean,I still won't buy add-ons for my games if they aren't worthy of the price asked, but I don't see any point in revolting on the Internet anymore, since I won't accomplish anything. What's done is done, standards are changed, and nothing can be done anymore...

Fine EA. Every game you make from NOW ON should be FREE. Then charge $50 for PREMIUM SERVICE which would give us extra STUFF or CONTENT or BOTH. And MAKE SURE that you don't ALIENATE your FREE players by giving ADVANTAGES to your PREMIUM SERVICE MEMBERS. SO figure that ALL OUT and MAKE SOME DECENT GAMES.

If things become increasingly more F2P with micro-purchases I will stop supporting both the developer and publisher. I already got duped with TF2. Even though when I bought it was on sale and was definitely some years behind the original release, I still felt like an idiot after it went free to play. And it did not compare to my experience playing TF originally and that really curbed my enthusiasm playing it.

So EA - FREE GAMES - and charge for PREMIUM SERVICE but not MAPS cause we want EVERYONE to play and not OVERPOWERED weapons for premium players BECAUSE WE WANT AN EVEN PLAYING FIELD.

And ditch client side hit detection while you're at it, for your future FPS games. Its a disservice to everyone playing.

( edit )

I seem to have left a piece out...

I never said it did. And if you are alluding to the fact that you think I am intentionally insinuating that BF3 premium in some way, you are completely wrong. wink.gif

Yet another reason to avoid EA. I would post the "Pure Pwnage EA" youtube video but it contains lewd content, otherwise it pretty much sums up my thoughts on the current path EA is on.
