What? Don't buy permanent! Those take a ton of time to save up and it's totally not worth it, since you'll be using the default weapon. By the time you save enough money, you would've probably quit the game!

A competitive premade gun (with all the bells & whistles) costs 200 GP per day. A single game (10 minutes of gameplay) nets you 100 to 200 GP.

Not really, the premade weapons are pretty awful since by lvl 7-10 you can have a good build for a weapon or your character. Premades are meant to be good but not the best possible for those unfamiliar with how to build a gun. Just play around the stats and look at what they do and what you want.

While Tribes is reasonably unique it's f2p play version actually is more generic than the previous one, in my opinion. Probably bcos the game has now "classes" and you cant just arrange set of equipment fitting exactly your play-style. In a sense it simplifies the things a lot ofc but if you have played the previous ones it feels a bit dumbed down. Maps feel a bit smaller as well. General feel is still Tribes like ofc as the flying is not that common in shooters.

Tribes, Shattered Horizon and I'm sure you can find few more (Global Agenda ? Cant remember from top of my head if it had the same stuff).

Anyway, my point was that the f2p Tribes is more generic than the previous one (cant remember the name, but it went free recently as well, i.e., legally downloadable from the net somewhere) bcos the maps feel smaller (might be technical limitation with unreal engine ofc) and, most importantly, you have fixed classes compared to the freedom of configuring the setup you like in the previous game.

The current one is fun and reasonably unique as well - just as I have experienced the previous one (unfortunately lacks the critical mass of players last I looked) I know that Tribes can be even more unique.

Found it. It was Tribes 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqP6YxXbqI0

Considering this is a sequel, you can't count any previous Tribes game when saying something is generic. The only games I'd say are even remotely the same is Shattered Horizon, Global Agenda and Repulse, but they're not even the same. Repulse you don't go anywhere near as high, same with Global Agenda, it's a third person and combat isn't similar at all, jetpacks aren't used 25/7 like in this game. Shattered Horizon is just zero gravity all the time, not really the same gameplay at all.

Tribes Vengeance gameplay is simply tribes like gameplay for the most part with many spin offs.

I'm pretty sure there are no other jetpack/zero friction skating/aoe weapon games that play like T:V.

And yes, Pay 2 Win sucks.
I really despise everything about it, but nothing can be done.

Then freaking pay the $10 or $30 to get your advantages. I bet that half the people that claim P2W sucks have no problem going out and spending $30-$60 on a game like Call of Duty, but then complain they have to spend $10-$30 just to own everyone in a P2W game...

I paid $10 for the Tribes Steam starter pack, and I've been playing pretty well in it and having fun. And it cost $25 less than BF3 and $50 less than the last CoD game I purchased.

Why must you always be negative? Every post you make has some sort of negative aura within it.
