A10 is the jack of all trades,yet master of none. i3 is a decent cpu with a horrible gpu.

i3 is mid-end? Since when?

If i3 is mid-end, I guess i7 hexa is like god mode.

Opteron, FX <=> Xeon, i7
A10, A8 <=> i5, i3
A6, A4 <=> Pentium
E2 <=> Celeron
E, C, Z <=> Atom

The issue is the Intel Tax places the i5 above the A10 in price.

I don't think Clarkdale qualifies, since the GPU is only usable with traditional GPU tasks.

Most Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors can accelerate things like encoding with their GPU though, so they do qualify, in my opinion.

An apu has a full dx 11 gpu which is totally different from what intel has.

Edit: Intel's attemps at making an apu failed it was called Larrabee.

Larrabee is a GPGPU...
APU is CPU + Anything that accelerates a certain task.
GPU accelerates Visuals
GPGPU accelerates Visuals & Computations

Any on die iGPU or iGPGPU on Intel makes that processor an APU

DX11 has nothing to do with the moniker of an APU.

I would've liked at least some programs run with hardware acceleration. Adobe CS6 has OpenCL support for Mercury playback engine, so test that with AMD and Intel, compare to low-end Nvidia graphics (and maybe midrange for some contrast). I'm sure Xbit or Anand will do a respectable job once they put out a Trinity review.

Larrabee wasn't an APU.
And HD 4000 has DX 11 support, which although has nothing to do with qualifying for an APU, should make it an APU in your book.

They're APUs. The concept is the same as AMDs.

Xeon=opteron
FX-8/6=I7/I5
FX-4, A10 A8= i3
A6=pentium
a4=celeorn
e, c, z= atom

you have them price wise, I think performance wise.

basically the same as yousr but with the fx-8 in line with the i7. the fx-8 and i7(quad core i7, that is) are about the same at threaded software. of chrose the i7 is more well rounded being better (much better) single threaded, but then again the fx is cheaper.
