best graphics card for 1680x1050

Thread Starter
hello everyone, im planning to build a new pc, aye, i'm pretty short of money but it's not the case, for everything i have ~1000$ to spend on, i guess.
i want to build sth like that: 396
ill need to put there some cooler for cpu i think, and some GPU (which?)
i admit im limited by 20' monitor samsung syncmaster t200hd with nominal resolution 1680x1050 which is the limit ill rather never pass

i want to have computer with any future (2 years for example, unless any killer shows up), to play games all maxed out if possible, (bf3, max payne, gta v (?) or watch dogs?) what GPU card would you suggest guys? i guess that 1680x1050 will reduce the requirements, some aax4 and max the rest correct me if im wrong biggrin.gif. i thought 7870 is enough for these days and that res, but im really not sure so i ask you,
gtx670, 7950 maybe? or shall i wait until new cards are released,

op i dont recommend you upgrade then!1920x1080 23 inch is todays cheap bin size.you should plan for a 1920x1080x23 inch ,this way when you up your screen you ll be oc,the difference in price will probably be a trip to the resto!if that!any dx11 256 bit,pcie2 gpu card will do,after that check price, the gpu always come on special so dont be in a hurry and you ll get great gpu for your hard earned money|

A 670/7950 are still overkill for that res because they are so close to there big brothers. I would say a 7870, a good one that can overclock(which they are know for) and stay cool
I would say either > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127662
or > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121624
Both of them are top of the line coolers and will overclock plenty.
Good luck on your decision thumb.gif

My monitor is also 20" 1680x1050 and I would recommend something along the lines of a Radeon HD 7850 / HD 7870 or the future GTX 660 when it is released.

1.5 GB or 2 GB of VRAM is needed for future proofing.

try to reuse hard drive if you can, today they re soo expensive if you can save here you ll be ahead by a good bunch.same for the case (paint your old one?okok was worth a try)with the money you save on the hard drive you can get a fair gpu.you can skip on a lot of part(as long as they are upgradable but gpu is your main friend!

if i was building a new computer i would proably use the A-10 apu from amd as a base and later add a gpu ,since you will be on a 20 inch monitor ,most game will probably be playable at a decent frame rate!i use a 5770 with a 1920x1080x 24 inch.from what people say a a10 onboard gpu is more powerfull or equal to my 5770 !

For that resolution, a 7870 will suit you quite well for a long long time

I would say get a HD 7950 OC. here is a fantastic deal.

MSI HD 7950 OC - USD 340 ( USD 320 after rebate)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127667

HD 7950 is close to HD 7970 clock for clock. HD 7950 OC can easily hit 1 Ghz at stock volts and 1.1+ Ghz with voltage tweaking . here is a HD 7950 OC (900 Mhz) compared at stock and overclocked with a HD 7970 (925 Mhz).

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/03/01/xfx_radeon_hd_7950_black_edition_video_card_review/8

for USD 320 its a no brainer. I don't see any value in getting a HD 7870 for USD 300.

Also for the PSU go for Seasonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W . very good PSU with 5 year warranty. 40A on +12v rail. Price USD 60

7850 is more than enough for 1680 x 1050.

the 2500k is overkill then

Phaedrus would tell you to avoid that PSU.
Where are you buying all of your parts from?

additionally, I've never heard of that case. Is it a Canadian company?
you may want to add your Location to your profile at some point so people can make recommendations off of that information.
