1) Do you use an antivirus? If so, which one? At the moment No, I've always just did fresh installs every so often.
2) How does using an antivirus affect your system? If I was using one I would say it wouldn't effect it that much as it would help protect my information, files, and everything else its designed to do.
3) Have you ever been infected by malware? Of course, basically everyone has now a days
4) How should someone handle an infection? Basically find a good anti-virus software and let it run cleaning up the infection and then monitoring the next 7 days.

1) Do you use an antivirus? If so, which one?

No, but I do use Malwarebytes. I haven't had the extra money to purchase a new license. Used my last one for my uncles laptop. tongue.gif

2) How does using an antivirus affect your system?

Being as I use a SSD it doesn't really impact boot up times or anything, but I do notice a bog down and or tad bit of lag when it's scanning/updating gaming or using other strenuous applications.

3) Have you ever been infected by malware?

Yeah, which is why I use Malwarebytes. tongue.gif

4) How should someone handle an infection?

Personally, if it's some weak/small problem that can be fixed by an AV or some form of "problem" remover then just use the right programs. However, given the circumstance of an serious infection and or virus, I would back up all personal/important data (assuming it's not already) and reformat the HDD/SSD then reinstall Windows. (Or whatever OS you use.) That, or even run Recovery and use a System Restore Point, or Image you've made prior to the infection.

1) Do you use an antivirus? If so, which one?
Yes, Bitdefender Internet Security

2) How does using an antivirus affect your system?
It doesn't affect it negatively in anyway.

3) Have you ever been infected by malware?
No.

4) How should someone handle an infection?
Blow up the computer, blow it to hell! Even the keyboard, mouse, monitors, desk, chair, EVERYTHING! All needs to be blown to a million pieces! Following that, a 6 months quarantine of the room/premises is recommended. That is the only way to insure the malware is eliminated.

1) Do you use an antivirus? If so, which one? Yes. At the moment between Vipre Internet Security and ESET NOD32 V5

2) How does using an antivirus affect your system? Doesn't really affect my system at all.

3) Have you ever been infected by malware? No, unless I voluntarily did it myself

4) How should someone handle an infection? They should try to see if anyone they know can help them if their knowledge is not that advanced. Simply relying on an Antivirus solution sometimes is not enough. Worse case scenario, if your knowledge is not that good, you should take it to a professional to help you fix it, instead of approaching the DIY method and have a risk of making things worse.
