[Gaming Blend] AAA Games Could Lead To Mainstream Crash

The Verge posted up a very detailed article about the state of the gaming industry. A lot of information regarding AAA games points to something many core gamers are hoping will happen: Mainstream AAA games from top tier publishers will result in a crash. This is mainly because the biggest issue in the gaming industry is that it has nothing to do with video games, but instead bottom lines

Sadly this is exactly how AAA titles are going now. Just big giant budgets on marketing even if it is a mediocre game.

If a $20 indie game like Hard Reset can have better graphics and artistic design than Call of Duty that puts into question where all the money goes for these AAA titles.

I hope mainstream AAA titles crash and burn.

All into marketing unfortunately. There was so much money put into Prototype 2's marketing that it hit Radical Entertainment pretty hard.

If ppl wouldn't be playing and buying too many mainstream blockbusters this wouldn't happen, so we as consumers brought it on ourselves basically.

Because AAA titles are nothing more then cash cows.

No one can alter or argue that statement without lying.

Ive been having a lot more fun with Heroes of might and magic 3 lately then I have Battlefield 3!

yeah its funny when they try to convince everyone that it is "premium" product and that hd content takes more to produce, when in reality it is to some degree just the march of technological progress. graphics in the 90s gradually improved too, but they didnt start charging us more (esp with dlc crap) until this generation. how convenient..
